Daniel Pipes says leading American Muslim groups want Islamic law to rule the U.S. -- even if they won't admit it -- and must be carefully watched.
For Muslims in America, the rhetorical war of words continues to escalate at home. Two weeks after sparring publicly with Jewish advocacy groups over the accurate number of Muslims living in the U.S., the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Thursday issued a call to stop the "Islamophobic smear campaign" against the American Muslim community and its leaders. CAIR urged journalists and public officials not to "be used as unwitting tools in this campaign or to undermine President Bush's efforts to show that the war on terrorism is not a conflict with Islam."
CAIR angrily pointed to a recent Los Angeles Times article which reported, "Pro-Israel or Jewish organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, the Jewish Defense League and the Middle East Forum think tank have provided news organizations with reams of critical documentation on Muslim leaders in recent weeks."
And the group singled out Middle East Forum's Daniel Pipes for special Scorn, calling Pipes "one of the foremost proponents of the current smear campaign," which has tied CAIR with Islamic radicalism and even violence.
In an interview with Salon, Pipes answers those charges, and warns that Muslims in America want Islamic law to rule the land.
Cordially,
I get asked all the time: How do I get on this bump list? Well the answer is you cant! The FreeRepublic Master Bump List is not a list of people who get notified about a topic appearing on FreeRepublic but it is a list of topics that you can click on and have posts relevant to those topics displayed to you. There are many topics like WOD_list (War On Drugs) or Homeschool_list (Stories that Homeschoolers may be interested in) or Homosexual Agenda (A list of articles related to that topic). And they all appear on the The FreeRepublic Bump List
When you are reading an article you can add it to the list by posting a reply to that topic and in the TO box put the name of the list you want it to appear on preceded by an *. For example if you want the article to appear on the War on Drugs list then put *WOD_list in the TO: box instead of someones screen name. You can also put it on several lists by separating the list names with a simi-colon ;. Then when you want to see the list go to The FreeRepublic Master Bump List and click on the link for that list.
One fun fact about The Koran : The influence of culture on literature is said to be very strong and entirely unconscious. As proof, "litcrits" point to the fact that there are no camels in the Koran, which is supposed to prove some profound thing or other about how we never even notice the mores of our own culture blah blah blah. But there are camels : The same dull story of a prophet and his she-camel (no, not THAT kind of story!) is told five times in essentially the same words.
You must be joking. On another thead, I've got a bunch of people calling me all kinds of names because I dare to post articles which are critical of Islam.
And the every-bit-as-blasphemous and death-and-destruction-worshipping "'prophet' Hitler," needed look no further for the model for his "one thousand year reich," than to the one set in motion by Derr Fuerher Mohammed!
[And did not!]
What a wonderful tribe were the Ash'aris! When they were overtaxed, either in their location or during their journeys, they would collect all their possessions, and then would divide them equally among themselves.
A, It is the ones that aren't "threatened", that engage in the "You must be of my faith or you surely will go to hell.", and then "help" folks on their way that bother me the most. But now, speaking of "threatened" bringing about fascist tactics, our government {culture?} seems to fit the bill right now. Peace and love, George.
OK, I agree. But, there are those who read {and interpret} passages in the Old Testament to say that those of darker skin color are lesser, and subject to slavery. Aroung the time of the fall of Babel. But, IMHO, when the Christ came, He, like our U.S. of A. Constitution brought equality as far as one's ability to believe and morality. He turned NONE away. Even when asked to by leaders and followers to do so. Peace and love, George.
A, IMHO, the reason is power. When the Christ was here he called it hypocritical for the leaders to demand things of, by way of limitation, their "flock" {my word because of lack}, while enjoying those same things. Petty or grand tyrants. Peace and love, George.
It would not surprise me in the least if one day a fanatic tries to kill Prof. Pipes. I know Mr. Emerson takes very elaborate precautions to prevent his own murder by jihadists.
Yeah. I'm sure there are a few fatwas which have been pronounced somewhere against him.
