Her New Testament professor brags about his time as a conservative, but says that with more education he became more aware of his need to become more liberal.

I think the problem is that the administration at these schools came from a time when free speech was all about speaking out with a minority voice against the establishment. To them, it's noble to protect such speech. But now they don't realize how much they are in the majority on campuses and treat these minority conservative students as if they are a threat to the poor unheard voices of the left. What a farce!

Re your #22

I graduated from Notre Dame and can tell you that it has morphed toward anti-military, anti-conservative, and pro-feminist liberalism..... Not much different from other large Universities in this regard. Sad.

"This is what frightens me most about Liberals. They just can't stand the fact that other people have views that are different than their own."

Taliban is as Taliban does.

More evidence that when one is educated beyond his intelligence, the law of diminishing returns kicks in. With a vengeance, in some cases.

I am a Tufts graduate and am familiar with the cannon tradition. This is too ironic - a "peaceful" group uses violence to suppress another group's speech.

I (and I am sure others in the Boston area) would be willing to help guard the cannon on a future date. 5+ people will be much more effective than one person in a sleeping bag.

Anyone interested?

Emailed him a letter of support. Also suggested that "unlawful restraint" might have given Sam more success than charge of assault. Also gave Mom the heads up on this thread and asked her to send the guy a letter of support.

Not much different from other large Universities in this regard.

I graduated from Texas A&M where the campus Republican Club exceeds 20,000 and the student body has avoided such a fate. The Aggies still fire their cannons.

Back in the late '60s, a bunch of SDS organizers and hippy camp followers from t.u. tried to invade the Aggies. The president, James Earl Rudder, got wind of the plan and led the Corps of Cadets in marching around the campus until the TV camera crews left.

I'd say, they need to learn to fight for what they believe in. I'm going to do alot more than ask to be released if someone is trying to tear down a flag or write over God Bless America.

This is why my son has 1 year of Karate under his belt and is now taking boxing. So that he CAN stand up for his rights. Although I dont believe he would go to a college like that anyway.

One thing you left off was the appeal at the bottom of the article:

Tell the good folks at Tufts University what you think of their refusal to punish its militant “peace” activists.  President Lawrence Bacaw can be reached at bacow@tufts.edu, or by phone at 617/627-3300.  Dean of Judiciary Affairs Veronica Carter can be reached at veronica.carter@tufts.edu, or by phone at 617/627-3158.
Make sure you contact these two.

Thanks for tacking that on. I did indeed goof by not putting it at the end of the article where it should have been.

That's pretty funny, considering that usually, people are liberal when they are immature and don't know the real world. When they wise up, and experience life's realities, they become more conservative.

My oldest son, who is a student at a FL university says that although the faculty is mostly liberal, he feels the students, at least those he encounters, are conservative. VERY conservative. In fact, when he came home recently, he surprised me at HOW conservative he has become. I guess being around bleeding heart college professors will do that to you now a days. And the really funny thing is, that the more they spout their liberalisms, the more they turn off the students they are attempting to convert - and they are too self absorbed to even realize it!
