Petition of support for Sen. Barbara Boxer's Box-cutting Bill:
Ban the Box-cutters!!
Comrades,
In the light of the terrible (but understandable) attacks of September 11, the greatest danger in American society is clear -- box-cutters. Imagine if just a handful of box-cutters can be responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans, how great the danger is in a country that has MILLIONS of box-cutters. In fact, the U.S. has more than four times as many per-capita box-cutters as any other industrialized nation. Unlike Europe and Japan where box-cutters are tightly regulated, box-cutters are ubiquitous in the U.S., even sold at Walmart. The danger lurks in drawers and cabinets, in offices and yes, even in schools across America. And sadly, it is the innocent children who suffer the most in our box-cutter-crazed society. 80% of children in the U.S.'s economically depressed (but culturally vibrant and diverse) inner-cities say that box-cutters are easily available in their neighborhood. In 2000 alone, box-cutter related child fatalities increased 33% to 3. This alarming trend shows that the time to act is now!
Obviously the only rational course of action is to ban all civilian ownership of box-cutters; however, the big-business box-cutter lobby in Congress makes this impossible today. Through its mouth-piece, the National Razor Association, big-business manufacturers like Gillette, Schick and X-Acto Knife defend their right to peddle their deadly and defective products to the unsuspecting public. So what can you do?
Senator Barbara Boxer is introducing a bill in Congress to ban the most dangerous of all box-cutters, the assault box-cutter. With a magazine of up to 18 blades in its handle, this box-cutter has no legitimate sporting purpose -- it is designed solely to maim and cut. It is this type of box-cutter that is to blame for the events of September 11. By signing this petition you can show your support for Senator Boxer's bill to ban assault box-cutters. But we cannot stop with this bill.
With your support in the future we can pass legislation to create a waiting period for box-cutter purchases, a background check to keep box-cutters out of the hands of the mentally disabled and the Christian Right, and eventually ban box-cutters outright. If we work together we can live in a safe world where packages are only opened with safety scissors. Please follow Rosie ODonnells lead and sign this petition and return to Sen. Barbara Boxers office.
Thanks and Keep Dreaming of a World Free From Sharp Implements!

Yes, blade locks are going to be required. Plus, you will have to submit to a background check before you are allowed to buy one. Plus, there is a 10 day waiting/cool-down period. Also, you will not be allowed to buy more than one box cutter every 30 days.
Also, high-capacity blades are illegal, and blades shorter than 18 inches will require a special tax.
Not to mention, you are not allowed to carry a boxcutter concealed, and not in a school, church, bar, restaurant, court building, or any other place where it is restricted by law.
Also, it should be illigal to have bre-ban box cutters.
Off topic: I was told that if you hold paper just right, you can inflict a severe cut. Should I be worried about people with paper?
I can't imagine a real man would wan to get anywhere near her other lips anyway.
Obviously we need to ban fingernails.
My usual activity during a flight is to sit in the window seat, clutching the armrests until my knuckles turn white while I look out the window to make sure the ground stays at the proper distance below. It keeps me so busy, I never have time to read!
Don't sit over the wing. In an old series "The Twilight Zone" a poor guy saw creatures running around on the wing, disabling the plane, and no one else could see them! ha, ha.
In any case, I suppose the upshot is that you may only bring federally approved reading material on today's flight.
