Well, after many, many years as a closet Republican (you know, registered Democrat, but mostly voting Republican), I finally made the switch!
I was walking around our annual Street Faire and came across the Republican Women's booth, and filled out the paperwork to switch parties. I was in good company, the woman volunteering at the booth said they had already had over a hundred others switching from Democrat to Republican at her booth today!!!
Now I just need to connect with the other closet Republicans in our union. (I know there are a lot of us out there.... maybe we can eventually stage a coup!) At least I'll still receive all the latest in Democratic propoganda that way, so I know what they're up to....
FRegards...
Whatever the reasons, I join your husband in welcoming you to the right side of the aisle.
After I got married, and my husband would ask me about why I was a democrat, why I didn't switch to his party (republican), and I would tease him that I had to stay and cancel out his vote. But, more and more, as I studied the candidates and issues, I would vote republican more often than not. I guess I always felt that it really didn't matter what "party" you belonged to, just how you voted that counted. But, after the past administration, I realized I couldn't, in good conscience, be connected in any way to the democratic party.
I wonder how many other women are out there, like I was. Registered as a democrat, but not one really where it counts, in your heart. DINO's, I guess. Who knows???
Could I suggest Gratefulwharffmouse?

Keep it! It's an asset.
I grew up as a liberal, but slowly changed to a Conservative over about 15 years. What made the major inroads into the change were 2 things: (1) I'd always been pro-life at heart, even though I put it on the back burner in some of the 80's years, and (2) I picked up a book about Libertarianism in the bargain bin at a bookstore as a gift for someone. Turns out I read the book several times, simply because I was so brainwashed that I couldn't understand what they were talking about until I read it a couple of times.
