Had to drive home from work. The broom is broken down, having it re-thatched as we speak. Would have used the flying carpet, but with it being from Iran and all, I didn't think it would be proper.

There's a remnant here who stands with you. The rest, well....... Yes. It is a fight to the finish to see who can be declared the nuttiest of the nutty.
Potter bashers get ten points.

The existence of people who have a belief system they call witchcraft doesn't imply that the beings or forces their belief system claims exist actually exist. (Of course, the same holds if you substitute "Christianity" for "witchcraft.")

"Weird. After I saw this I mailed Chuck Morse to tell him he was a wacko and he replied to me claiming he had no knowledge of his own website!" But it would be out of line to call him a fruitcake, nut, or screwball, wouldn't it?

Had to drive home from work. Too bad for you. I thought you were off somewhere with your special purpose...
To: null and void
I wonder what influences you?

"Ah, but we know there is no logic for the freeptards.." So true. And my God just laughs and laughs. He's funny that way. Cheers!

LOL! Nope, none of that around here. No special purpose for me. Just waiting for God to introduce her into my life. (uh oh...my secret is out...I'm an irreverent Christian who reads and watches Steve Martin movies..I'm doomed!)

the orphaned Harry Potter is taken to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he learns how to use witchcraft equipment, work with demon spirits, and use words such as Azkaban, Circe, Draco, Erised, Hermes, and Slytherin. These are Wicca names for devils and demons.Witchcraft doesn't affect the atoms and molecules of the material world. Its sole power is in manipulating and controlling the human mind and soul. In the real world, there are no Harry Potters, only Valdemorts.

I too am in total agreement with you both. The difference in comparing for example " The Wizard of Oz" and the likes to Harry Potter, is that nowhere did they (Wizard of Oz) use actual real witchraft and Satanic names and spells. And ! anyone denying there is a Satan or evil, well, what can I say.

"Had to drive home from work. The broom is broken down, having it re-thatched as we speak. Would have used the flying carpet, but with it being from Iran and all, I didn't think it would be proper." Do try mental telepathy. I appear to be at work, but I'm actually at home in bed. Haven't worked at lick in three years. Works wonders!

I have numerous books in my home (there are some very wonderful books out there) and I still believe that what one puts in their mind will influence them.

Reading the Bible doesn't make one Christian. Reading the Qu'ran doesn't make one a Muslim. Reading Mein Kampf, The Communist Manifesto, or Earth in the Balance doesn't make one a Nazi, Commie, or Sierra clubber.
So what's wrong with reading Harry Potter, given the above?

I wonder what influences you?Pretty much anything that actually demonstrably works...

but I'm actually at home in bed. Haven't worked at lick in three years. Are you one of the grandparents in Willie Wonka?
To: Demosthenes
If your young children (say, aged 10-14) wanted to read Mein Kampf, or literature given to them by The Young Socialists' party, would you let them? That's easy. Absolutely, YES.
Because as they are reading, they would be asking questions and answering mine.
We homeschoolers actually KNOW our kids.
Sadly, this thread exposes that fact that to most adults, children are an alien species.

"I have numerous books in my home (there are some very wonderful books out there) and I still believe that what one puts in their mind will influence them." I'm sure you read that somewhere, huh? So if you read, the Communist Manifesto, you'll be a communist, eh?

Steady... He said influence, not control....
