TERRORISTS TARGET CA BRIDGES!
KFBK Radio | 11-1-01 | self

Talk show host Tom Sullivan just reported that during a press conference Gov. Davis said he was notified that there is evidence that terrorists plan to target the Coronado Bridge (San Diego), the Golden Gate & Bay Bridges (San Francisco) and an LA Bridge (didn't catch the name) tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 2nd.

Please reconsider your temper tantrum. Tom Sullivan is THE talk show host for Sacramento and the one selected to Greet President Bush on his recent trip. Also this was just reported on Fox News. Good enough? Oh BTW if there is doubt then it would be because it was announced by Gray Matter Davis Gov, (puke) of Cal.

Seems to me they'd target the Los Angeles freeway system (one that has a few overpasses one over the other) rather than the LA bridge.

My thoughts, too. Don't assume that this warning has all of the facts absolutely accurate.

I used to live in l.A. and there used to be a beer with its brewery right along the L.A. river. That is where they got their water to make this crap. I never had any, Afraid.Brew 302. Don't know if it's still in operation but can you imagine its marketing dificulties?

This is something we have been dreading here in California. Destroying any of our bridges would be horrendous, but to mess with our beautiful Golden Gate would be the ultimate horror!
Of course our wonderful Governor Davis says the bridges will still be open just heavily guarded. Duh!

"Take that down, and you trap the Pacific Fleet (whatever is left in port) at their docks."

Probably not. That channel is pretty deep. Besides there are a lot of dredges sitting there that could clear quickly. There used to be a story floating around that in case of harbor blockage, they would blow out a section of the Silver Strand to clear a passage. The explosives are supposedly already buried in place.

Nothing personal, but it really bothers me when someone posts something in good faith and somebody else discounts it as "worthless." I think most of us who post here do so responsibly and with the purpose of disseminating information. Often reports in regional areas do not reach outside those areas and details may not be immediately available. This forum often serves as a place to throw a question out on the chance that others may have more information. As long as these type of posts do not dominate the forum, I see no harm in them. If you don't agree, by all means say so if you feel you must, but perhaps in a less insulting way.

That's nothing personal, because you aren't the only one by far, but posting what you HEARD on a radio show to which most others do not have access, quoting a "talk-show host" (I assume) who could be credible, or could be a loony like Art Bell or Michael Savage, communicates no useful information.
I love Art Bell and Michael Savage! By the way, I exhcanged a coupla emails w/Savage wherein he said he's a regular Freepers reader (HI MIKE!). Welcome to the loony bin, eh?

I just heard on the NOOZ, ABC-7 TV: Bay Bridge (Oakland) Golden Gate (SFO) St Vincent(LA)
Coronado(SanDiego) have been targeted based upon credible evidence.

Gov Gray Davis says so, it must be true.

There aren't any bridges in LA. I mean none like the Bay Bridge or Golden Gate Bridge.

Huh? You haven’t heard of the San Fernando Bay Bridge?! It crosses the LA river in Van Nuys.

a major bridge in Los Angeles

Last time I was in LA, there were a lot of bridges associated with the freeways. Some of them are on the large side, although not crossing open water. Losing such a bridge would force traffic to use surface routes, which might or might not be a major inconvenience.

You take a look at this picture:

Now would you explain to me how the heck an aircraft carrier is going to pass underneath a bridge with clearance that low and that narrow?

OK everyone, time for the liberal citizens of San Francisco to PUT UP or SHUT UP.

I wanna see a poll after this news of bridge threats, with ONE question:

"DO YOU BELIEVE PROFILING SHOULD BE USED AT THE BAY BRIDGE AND GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE TO PULL OVER DRIVERS OF MIDDLE-EASTERN DESCENT FOR A SEARCH OF THEIR VEHICLES?"
