Well it's only kids. Who cares about their civil rights. It's not like they vote or anything.

"Some players have been suspended for attending a party at which alcohol was served. In an unusual twist, the school district used lie detector tests to prove some of them were there.

"Peoria County deputies raided the party and the names of students who were present, as well as some who had left their cars there..."

How very sad...a non-school function, out of school hours, and kids suspended for having been there, or having had the misfortune of parking their car nearby, regardless of whether or not they had been drinking themselves.

Couldn't the local police have simply charged those present who were drinking (not just everyone who was there) with underage consumption? The school could then decide what action, if any, they would take after a conviction in a court of law.

Guilt by association and guilty until proven innocent...in other words, Napoleonic law...and we all know what a wonderful guy Napoleon was...

And the shameful thing is the way the Dems teach them they'll end up hating conservatives and blaming us for these Stalinist actions.

Still, Collier said he decided to use the polygraph because he felt getting the truth was important.

What a socialist think moron. "So Commandant Collier, why eez it not exceptable in your countries courts as evadencia of ze truth?"

Oughta make this Nazi run naked through a mile of cornfields with rabid dogs chasing him.

To all evidence, polygraphs are snake oil. A skilled operator might wring a confession out of an ignorant examinee now and then, but a proof? Ridiculous.

Initially, 15 athletes were accused of attending the party. Three admitted guilt; two more were suspended after refusing to take the polygraph. Seven of the 10 who took the test failed and were barred from competition.

.... whatever happened to The Fifth?

You might want to look at the violations of our rights that were just requested by President Bush and that Congress passed before you call what this superintendent did "socialist think." Especially the parts of the new law that congressmen didn't have time to read before voting for it and which have no sunset provision, so are permanent law. Try secret searches of your home while you are not there, without a warrant. Gun owners might be interested in that one.

"...for attending a party at which alcohol was served."

The critical question goes unanswered: Was the party hosted or given a venue by parents/adults? The answer to that should be the determining factor on the disciplinary actions taken.

The Polygraph Protection Act is one of the laws I have to train my employees in, companies can only use pre employment polygraphs for extremely sensitive jobs such as high level security or for jobs involving handling of very large amounts of money.

It's unfortunate that the Employee Polygraph Protection Act didn't go all the way in banning pseudoscientific lie detector "testing" from the American workplace. It gave government a blanket exemption, and as you noted, exempted certain private jobs. See AntiPolygraph.org regarding efforts to close the loopholes, and for information on how those subject to lie detector "testing" can protect themselves from abuse.
