"...You probably think the US Constitution is "A Living Document" that ought to be interpreted to suit any need, and woe to the man who will not manipulate it for all it's worth..."

=====================================================
Geeze...A "Living Document", indeed.

I get a sick feelin' in the pit of my stomach on each occasion that I hear that. That's how the Constitution should be, constructed - finished and completed. The Framers should've stopped with that section of the tenth amendment...."Congress shall make no law...". Everything that the Federal Government had been given the power to 'regulate/control' should've ended at that point.

There are plenty of leftist Republicans who run under the colors, Jeffords was one, Specter, and plenty of Dems who are really Communists. Why don't you get upset about them? The knee jerk anti-libertarian crowd, what a bore.

,,, our Prime Minister (Helen Clark) got a call from Dubya within the last week, saying just that. What's at issue here though is Australia, a country with a strong pro-US track record and what's being put to the vote has been voted on almost unanamously. At the outset of this thread there was curiosity about the way Ron Paul voted - I'm still in the dark about that and so are many other posters. Obviously, the rest of the representatives voting understand the value.

I truly have no idea why Paul did this. My understanding is his is a strict constitutionalist, meaning he doesn't necessarily care for the 'fluff' and 'pomp' of these types of things. Then again, I don't live in Texas, so if any Texas freepers can give a rational explanation as to Paul's politics, please do so.

Ron Paul is an MD. He delivered babies as a career for many years before he ever ran for office. What standing do you have to call him "goofy trash" or "nutcase"?

I'm NOT an MD and I have never delivered a baby, but I can tell you this, I wouldn't have the heart to vote against the partial birth abortion ban. Ron Paul did. Does that tell you all you need to know about this man's character (or lack thereof)?

'Cuse me, nopardons, but wherever do you get it that I was referring to 'rules".....if you had simply read my #9 rather than hitting the 'post' button, you'd have read where I indicated his/her need to read FR's 'purpose for being".

For the record, this is the first paragraph on the FR opening page:

"Welcome! Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America. And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!"

And pulling out a dictionary, you will find the word 'largesse' refers to 'liberal giving', or generous giving......that is something, my dear, that knows no party lines!

And as the opening page doesn't refer to Free Republic as a "Republican" web site, I do believe it is not your place, nor certainly not mine, to attempt to make it such. But then, you could contact Jim Robinson and tell him what you want.

Regards...

Kinda hypocritical that Paul won't pay tribute to our allies in Aussie land, yet is more that willing to clutter up the congressional record with his own tribute to a high school chemistry class in his own district.

Witness More Ron Paul Hypocracy

You should read the Constitution some time.Where does it autorize the Federal Governement to do anything about abortion. I guess you think Roe v Wade was a legitimate decision.

Thank goodness... they've got enough people suggesting ways to spend our tax dollars already. I didn't mean to sound snippy towards you.

Further to Ron Paul's finances, I was informed by a FReeper who attended the Texas Victory 2000 shindig that TV2000 was not giving Ron Paul any $$$$. In fact, there were many witnesses to that FReeper saying that--we were on Fire Talk at the time. The Freeper is a lady.

Once upon a time, I read a thread here regarding an annual bbq or party or something that Ron Paul has annually.....apparently one of his staffers when questioned about this said something about not being the case. However, I have received verification from another FReeper who has close personal contact with a staffer or former staffer who says the former is correct.

I really have to laugh at the idea that everyone should butt-kiss the GOP. As I recall, when Representative Linda Smith was running against Patty Murray for the Senate, from Washington state, good ol Mitch McConnell, in charge of the Senatorial campaign funds, gave a token amount to her race.......Linda could have beat the snot out of the absolutely stupid, braindead Patty Murray....cripes, she won her House seat as a WRITE-IN!!

But the GOP preferred to hav ethe absolutely stupid, braindead DEMOCRAT Patty Murray vote against everything the GOP attempted to do, as a good little party line voter she is!

,,, no offence taken at all. There are complex issues involved and it's always good to have different views hitting these threads, providing they're not from stirrers. It's important to note that one of the constants in outlooks since Sep 11 has been "you're with us or you're against us". Now is a good time to look outside your own State and the US, defining your allies and getting to know more about them. You'll find they don't all reside in your 50 States.

Regards

You, on the other hand, have so much character you would lie in an oath to uphold the Constitution.

Don't insult your betters.

Amendment 5 of the bill of rights "[no person shall be] deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law . . . " If Ron Paul respected life and the constitution, he would know what the right vote was on the partial birth abortion ban.

Ah......speaking of your Prime Minister Clark....and her getting a call from Dubya.....I recall a couple of weeks back on Pal Talk someone said Ms. Clark and New Zealand wasn't gonna do much of anything, i.e., we were on our own....

Anyhow, is the fact she got a call from the Prez, rather than a resolution from Congress what has your shorts in a twist?

Representative Paul, being a strict Constitutionalist, doesn't vote in the affirmative for most of the things Congress does....it goes against the Constitution. I don't believe he compromises on his principles much, if at all. I think that is what gets many people in a dither about him--he actually remains quite firm whereas most politicians are wishy washy and can be bought....literally or quid pro quo.

I don't recall any FReepers I've had dialogue with from New Zealand....but Byron the Aussie from Australia I've spoken with on Fire Talk (before it bit the bullet) as well as on threads here.

I do know New Zealand has some reallllllyyyyyyy nice SHEEP.

Won't needs an apostrophe. Elected officials need to obey their oaths to the Constitution. Ron Paul does.

Yep....that darn hypocrit....pointing out a group in his district that is 'taking care of business' without the benevolent fedgov doing it! Ain't that the shits! Encouraging people and communities to do shit for themselves instead of reaching out the proverbially empty hand to Uncle Sam!!! The nerve!

And its really maddening to think that he didn't send this through committees, thereby depriving all those clerks and committee staffers, and the printing offices from getting to do their duty to God and Country by passing out copies, taking testimony, holding votes, printing, and reprinting. How dastardly of Mr. Paul!!

GO RON GO!!!!
