VANITY Question: What Have Your Dreams/Nightmares Been Like Since 9/11?
Posted on 10/15/2001 7:50:59 PM PDT by hispanarepublicana
My family and friends have always considered me to be slightly freakish because I have in my whole life had maybe 2 bad dreams or nightmares. However, since 9/11, I've often dreamed that I am running, trying to escape something; or, that I am on a train in a city and bombs are dropping out of the sky. The other night I dreamed we were out on one of those large hotel rooftop pool/patio areas in Dallas. There were several children about (almost like a family reunion or something). Suddenly, we saw an airliner fall out of the sky nose down about 2 miles away right on top of a water park. The rest of my dream was us trying to gather and protect the children.

You mean you've been able to sleep???
seriously, have not noticed much change, but have been sleeping less due to spending too much time scouring the news.

Funny you should ask. I've always had bad dreams. Usually about being on a plane that's flying at tree top level(I've never flown) or about tornados. Since 9/11 I've only had one, and it involved my aunt, not war or planes.

My dreams last night were disturbed. Familiar setting, but agitated somehow. The main thing that happened was a voice saying it is the time of CHANGE.

I have always had dreams. I have many dreams every night and I wake up remembering many of them. My husband seldom dreams.
In any case, I have had dreams of inhaling anthrax (even though I'm not worried at all about getting it). I have also had dreams about terrorist attacks at the mall where my teenage son just started working. I've had several dreams about terrorism, but for some reason they haven't been scary.
Interesting question.

My only bad dream since the 9-11 bombing has been very end-of-the-worldish. I dreamt the sun and stars went out and all electrical power was gone. Two great fissures opened in the earth while black smoke poured from them to darken the sky. I vividly recall using a flashlight to walk in a parking deck to find my jeep and make my way home.
I have never had a dream like that in my life.
I'm hoping it was the chili.

When I was a kid, I would have a recurring nightmare that would involve watching an airliner crash.
Ever since Sept. 11, I've been having them again.

I've dreamed about the enemies of freedom perishing in the flames of eternal damnation. I sleep well.

I don't have nightmares. I know God and God knows me. Where is the fear?

No bad dreams. Think it has something to do with confidence in Bush team and our men in uniform taking good care of us.

Last night, I dreamed I was riding in a Jeep in a post-war Afghanistan with King Zahir Shah, the deposed Afghani monarch in exile. He was discussing his plans to rebuild the country when a bomb exploded, and our Jeep went off the road (he was driving.) When we got out of our overturned Jeep, I suddenly realized that he was an evil figure, although I still had no idea who was bombing us. Shelling was going on around us. At that point, Hawkeye Pierce came out from behind a tree, and motioned for me to follow him. We proceeded to escape from the evil King.
I know, I know, none of this makes any sense whatsoever. It was just the most bizarre dream I've had since this all began. I suppose it might have something to do with the large enchilada platter I ate for dinner Sunday night.
