October 15, 2001 -- PORTLAND, Maine - Isanu Dyson, a fifth-generation American who converted to Islam three years ago, is prepared to join the jihad against the United States, and believes government workers are fair targets.

The 24-year-old Maine resident, who carries a dagger and 3-foot sword, told The Post it would be "noble" to enlist with the Taliban and fight against American soldiers in Afghanistan.

But if war were declared, and self-styled "peaceful Muslims" were actually making claims such as this individual, what legal threshold would have to be crossed for arrest for "sedition" to occur?

I think we ought to take advatage of this time to review all aliens' status and deport or inprison any illegals.

During a period of war I would be fine with giving people who made public statments like the above the choice of prison or exile even if they are citizens.

Of course, looking at the photos of the Taliban and hearing their statements and seeing how they treat women, perhaps, that's the main problem of all fundamentalist Muslims.

From what I understand a lot of those fundamentalist Muslims are fooling around with boys since they can't have women before marriage. Talk about a topsy-turvy morality. They think it's a big taboo to even look at a woman's face yet corn-holing boys is okay with them. Someone send the Taliban their NAMBLA membership cards.

Dyson also described the United States as "hypocritical," because it believes in freedom but interferes in the affairs of other countries by helping to install governments against the peoples' wishes.

Last time I checked, the 'people' didn't elect the Taliban.

People like this Isanu Dyson, or the imam of a Brooklyn mosque who was described as an Irishman who converted to Islam, are the predictable outcome of decades of derision of Western civilization, Christianity, and European-American people in the popular media and educational institutions. Marxists, whether of the Leninist or the Gramscian stripe, and secular humanists have worked for over a century to deride traditional institutions such as families and churches. Particularly in the last 35-40 years, their view has become the dominant one in American society. Those who remain loyal to Biblically based and traditional Western values are marginalized as extreme right-wingers. (You all know the mantra: racist, sexist, homophobic, militarist, xenophobic, yada yada.)

Sometimes, as in the case of Dyson, dissent from the mainstream culture does not flow into the more common channel of the nihilistic punk/"underground" lifestyle, but in the adoption of a more structured, authoritarian form such as Islam. His choice may be fairly unique, but it is nonetheless another type of rejection of Christianity, Western civilization, and the America of the Founding Fathers.

May someday, in God's providence, New England be restored to the spirit of its Puritan forefathers. May Bible-believing, Spirit filled, modern day Puritans restore that land to righteousness and holiness, to truly being a city on a hill.
