[history]
It is understandable that now, more than ever, Americans want to feel safe. Our basic sense of security has been shattered by the events of Sept. 11. But now more than ever we must respondto our fear and uncertainty with common sense and calm, not hysteria.

Hey, is a 12 gauge shotgun with a manufactured 18-1/4 barrel and a pistol grip legal now? I bought it years ago. I havent fired it in 15 years. I wonder if I need to put the original wood stock and long barrel back on it?

Oh no Ayatollah?
Then dress up like an Islamic Fundamentalist hijacker terrorist Arab-Egyptian and break in my front door... and we'll see who is safer. You with a plastic knife or me with a .45 acp Colt. LOL

The theory of mutually assured destruction is pure logic. Why would someone commit a crime against me if they know there is a high probability that I am armed and I can kill them? It makes us safer and it reduces crime, simple logic and backed up by real statistics.

The writer of the article should feel free to not own a firearm and remain unable to defend her family and her home.

I am proud to be a staunch supporter of MY government. The man's point about the failure of the U.S. government is correct. The reason these mass murdering terrorists are here killing us is because the federal government welcomed them in. They have been handing out visas like candy with no concern for our security or safety. Does 11 million illegal aliens in the United States sound like your government is doing its proper job?
The terrorist attacks are the result of lax immigration and a massive failure of counter-terrorism intelligence of the CIA and FBI.
For the past eight years, the federal government has been focused on making war on elements of American society, more worried about an American sawing off his shotgun than bloodthirsty savages from the middle east who have already proven their hatred and fanaticism in pursuit of killing Americans.
President Bush is not responsible for what happened before but he can direct a new course for the federal government than they pursued under Clinton.

Guns are to protect us from our politicians. And criminals. Oh heck, I think I just repeated myself. Sometimes they are one and the same.

I know you did not ask me this question but I'll answer anyway. I live in Az. and that is my primary home defense weapon and it is legal here, but you may want to check your state's gun laws just to be sure. That weapon is also a great way to get rid of punkins after haloween.

It might not make her safe but I know how to use a gun, that makes me less of a target and more of a threat to those who would do me harm. Be it those with criminal intent or my government.

Thanks. Sometimes I go camping with it, cause we have bears over here in NM, and they sometimes break windows and climb in cars and trucks. I camp in the back of my truck.

I just bought the identical thing, in New York State no less, so it must be legal. (I hope.) The only thing was I had to take a stupid wooden dowel out of it so it would hold 6 shells instead of 2. (Uh, oh, am I going to get a visit from ATF now?)

the red star is a communist rag, and as such, isn't even worthy of wiping with, if it were the last paper item on earth.
