Sarah Brady: Tighter Gun Laws Needed to Prevent Terrorism and Strengthen National Security

(Washington, D.C.) Sarah Brady, Chair of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, today issued the following statement regarding the House and Senate's passage of anti-terrorism legislation.

"With passage of this legislation, Congress has taken a significant step toward ensuring that law enforcement has the tools needed to investigate and deter terrorist attacks. But there is one glaring omission - nothing in these bills will close the gaps in our federal firearm laws that allow terrorists to amass their deadly arsenals.

"We know from recent terrorism investigations that these dangerous criminals will exploit any opening in our laws to buy weapons, including firearms. In some cases, they have gone to gun shows and bought firearms and ammunition from unlicensed sellers who were not required to conduct criminal background checks.

"Incredibly, our soldiers could be gunned down by foreign terrorists armed with firearms purchased at American gun shows. We can, and must, close loopholes in our firearm laws by requiring a background check every time a firearm is sold. A criminal background check is a minor inconvenience for gun buyers - most are completed within minutes - but is a key tool for protecting public safety. We must also ensure that there are records of all firearm sales so that law enforcement officials can track terrorists, trace their weapons, and know what threats they are facing when they attempt to apprehend these criminals.

"Any anti-terrorism proposal that fails to address easy access to firearms and retention of records is clearly inadequate. If we need more careful screening of people entering our country, surely we need to check the background of people buying guns once they are here. And it makes no sense to crack down on terrorists laundering money, if we allow them to use their cash to buy weapons with impunity. Congress and the Administration should work together to make this counter-terrorism package more comprehensive."

How about a little box-cutter control or better yet border control.

Yeah we should crack down on those giant assault weapons they used at WTC. Demand immediate registration for 747s and sue Boeing for making an unsafe product! (end sarcasm)

These people miss no opportunity

She has got to be a real KOOK.

Does she realize that 4 guns in the cockpits of 4 airplanes would have saved over 6,500 lives.

Just curious: Was the weapon used to injure Mr. Brady legally bought and owned?

I must have forgotten about all those terrorist incidents in the U.S. where the perpetrators used weapons purchased at gun shows. BTW, our local news had a piece this evening on how gun sales are up, especially among women and older folks. LOL. Sorry, Sarah.

Ask her how that gun-control federal prosecutor managed to get himself blown away? I didn't think there was a prosecutor alive who wouldn't carry. Idiots - him AND Ms. Brady's deranged followers.

Ya gotta give the bitch credit, when you pay for her service, you got it 24/7, even if she's got to abandon her disabled husband to do it.

Funny she never mentions that her husband was rather famous in the gun world as one of the biggest full-auto machine gun collectors and shooters in the country, and lifetime NRA member.

All I can say is, Thank God, Ronald Reagan has no idea that a man he trusted and believed in would eventually have to totally rely on his undercover commie bufoon of a wife.

Pay attention, Sarah:

Ahmed: "Iamtellingyouthis..........know that we will amass weapons in the United States, the Great Satan, and use them to kill the infidels and attain glorious Paradise with Allah and seventy virgins apiece!!!"

Tamil: "Ahmed.....Ahmed.....Ahmed. Don't you read the papers, my illiterate friend? Um.....never mind. Anyway, haven't you heard that there are now laws passed that will punish us for having guns?? Laws pushed through by those cowardly excuses for men in Congress, cowed by that .......spit.........woman, Sarah Brady???"

Ahmed:"Laws?? Ohmygoodnessgolly. I'm not knowing this. There go ALL of our wondrous plans!!! We are stopped in our tracks!! The lovely virgins must be more patient!!! Allah!! Allah!!! AAAAAARGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! Oh well, so much for that."

Yep, Sarah. I'm just sure that's how it will go. Twit.
