Did anyone just catch the CNN Headline News report on the idiot Physics professor that said the American flag was a symbol of "terror" on the evening of Sept 10th?
The reporter said the woman was inundated (ie FReeped) with "threats" via phone and Email and they showed a picture of a FR thread
.I was so surprised to see the FR thread I didnt hear what the reporter was saying
.was it hate web sites?

Given the extremist crap that's being posted all over FR these days, they wouldn't have any difficulty at all in making a good case that FR is precisely that [a hate site]. 4,500 innocent people are buried under rubble. Anthrax is being used to attack my fellow citizens. Our country is at war against the perpetrators. At what point would it become acceptable to be "extreme" and "hate" the enemy?

I don't read every thread, but exactly which "extremist posts" are you talking about?I see you're an ex-Democrat. Me too. Congratulations!
I also see that you've been a member since 10/12. So, I wouldn't expect you to have seen any "extremist posts" yet. But they were here ... especially right after 9/11. A good chunk have probably been deleted by now.
Frankly, I was shocked to "hear" some of the thing my fellow FReepers were saying. It actually got to the point where I was ashamed to call myself a FReeper.
But it looks like things have started to calm down a bit. But if there is another attack on America, you may get a chance to see some of the "extremist posts" for yourself.
At any rate, the whole episode taught me yet another lesson in life: there are kooks and extremists on both the left and the right.

In my humble opinion, media objectivity is not a fact - it is a fetish. Even George Orwell did not foresee the degree to which the mainstream media has become the...
enemy--of everything American.

The problem isn't with you hating the enemy. The problem is that some people are casting a very wide net in the effort to define who is the enemy and therefore appropriate to hate.

I looked on the CNN and Headline News sites and couldn't find this story.
I'm NOT saying it wasn't there- I just never go to those sites & maybe I was navigating incorrectly.

4,500 innocent people are buried under rubble. Anthrax is being used to attack my fellow citizens. Our country is at war against the perpetrators. At what point would it become acceptable to be "extreme" and "hate" the enemy? The operative words being "perpetrators" and "enemy." Some of the "extremists posts" that people are refering to, say such things as calling for action to drag all the "ragheads" through the streets. This is unfocused hatred. Bush, thankfully, is a little more clear-headed and able to distinguish between the perpetrators and innocent Afghan civilians.

There's no such thing as "Bad Publicity". We'll take it.
The lines have been drawn, and sides chosen.
Our ranks are swelling and their's are fleeing, ... as fast as Taliban fighters to the Northern Alliance.

I don't read every thread, but exactly which "extremist posts" are you talking about? Stick around here and youll see a few, or try this one for a concentrated dose. Or this one. They're pretty typical.

Gosh, I'm glad we have a self-righteous liberal like you to serve as the conscience of Freeperville (NOT!!!). If you don't like the heat here, why do you go post on the loser Lucianne site? Plenty of folk like you there; very liberal and condescending.......

Hate of traitors = love of country. We could use more of this good publicity.

I looked at the threads you were talking about. It seems to me you can't wear your tinfoil hat very well. All I saw were rational disagreements with YOU.

Kosovo opened my eyes and changed my entire world view. I am still waiting to hear if the cowardly, gun running, drug dealing, christian and jew killing islamic lowlifes in Kosovo are on our side or if they are on the terriost's side. If they are not on our side, when will we stop protecting them and turning our backs while they continue their jihad.
