If you see a US flag upside down, it is a sign of distress. During this time of national mourning and with many calling for us to petition God for His blessing, why dont we get really honest and begin to recognize that our country is in distress and not mourning. It is not Gods blessing that we need, it is His mercy. There is only one problem though; His mercy is not available to the proud or the impenitent.
Consider with me for a moment; on September 11, approximately 6,000 people were killed during this tragedy. What makes it a tragedy is that they were killed without due process that found them guilty of a crime they were innocent. Lets consider something else of a very weighty measure; every day, on average, some 4,400 babies are killed without due process that would find them guilty of a crime they are innocent. If you do the math, that is equivalent to more than 15,000 September 11ths.
I ask you, why do we not mourn for that tragedy? Why do we not give of our money and time to rescue them from the rubble that entraps and entombs them? Why do we not cry out for the babies like we cry out for the victims in NYC, DC and Pennsylvania? Why do we not cry out against the lawmakers who allow this tragedy to go on like we cry out against the Taliban? Why are we protective of the abortionists while freely expressing our outrage and crafting law against the likes of Osama Bin Laden?
The answer is really very simple; we do not care unless it closely affects us. The dead babies do not affect our 401k like the merciless radicals of Osama Bin Laden. In reality, as a whole, we are selfish. Its time that we recognize that fact and repent, perhaps then God will hear us and give us protected shores again. Without it, we can be assured there will be many more such insurgences. How do I know? I read the Bible (try reading Isaiah 10, Ezekiel 9 and Ezekiel 22 among others).
You don't know, and claiming you do is the height of arrogance.
... and while we cannot ignore or push aside the insideous way that certain lawmakers (far too many of them) take advantage of such situations to push an ever increasing agenda of control and globalism on us.
... yet the evil that we have allowed amongst us in the form of the wanton, on-demand kkilling of the unborn is a greater evil. It strikes at the very heart and core of what we are and what we represent as a people. Until we face that evil, and defeat it ... these other evils are apt to continue unabated, and will probably increase.
A cowboy friend of mine, who has cowboyed in Montana and Idaho most of his life, and who is now around fifty years old, and someone who is not often very wordy ... once this gem of a man spent more words on this topic than I had heard him speak in a long time on any single topic when he said ...
"Jeff, if you want to know the state of our nation, if you want to understand how much trouble we are in ... just look at abortion. The fact that five hundred and more good men in every community where there is an abortion clinic haven't torn it down brick by brick, informing the workers that such an abomination won't be allowed in their community ... the fact that this hasn;t happened tells you all you need to know about the state of our socieety ... and is why I stay out here in the hills and on the range."
There is a God in Heaven and He DOES watch over the affairs of men. Just like Patrick Henry said. And He WILL raise up freinds to help us in our fights if we turn to Him and are worthy. Unfortunately, the converse of that statement by Patrick Henry is also true.
II Chronicles 7:14
Regards.
Now, others may not agree ... and that is fine. All have to come to such knowledge on their own and the ways they are led to find it may well differ in form and substance. But it is never arrogant to claim that God's word has given you inspiration ... as long as what you are inspired to do is intrinsically good and in keeping with the Word. In this case, asking people to repent and try and stop abortion, at least from my perspective, fits that definition.
Jeff, it would actually be more humble if t&l admitted that these were his private musings. How is one supposed to disagree with someone who says "Well, GOD revealed this to me"?
Sorry. Waving your private revelations around like a flag is a sure sign that they AREN'T from God, IMO.
Pray tell, if the most successful private sector retirement plan doesn't meet with your approval, and the government Ponzi scheme must be outlawed, what is your plan for retirement? Passbook savings? A coffee can buried in the back yard? Sponging off of the kids?
Lose the tired old "401K" schtick. It makes you sound like bitter and jealous democrats, and you lose more people than you'll ever win with such divisive argument technique.

He could have allowed us to see a WEEK'S worth of "business as usual." Or a month's worth. Or the 40 million slaughtered Americans who have been sacrificed since 1973.
Second, I do not necessarily agree that talking to people openly about one's beliefs and "testimony of the spirit" is necessarily a sign that they are not from God. We are, afterall, admonished in scripture by Christ himself to "go into all the world" and proclaim His gospel.
One has to judge for themselves depending on the circumstance, the attitude and whether it is to "be seen of men" or to fulfill God's purpose.
In this article, because of my own beliefs regarding abortion and its tremendous negative impact on the overall moral vitality of the nation, I did not feel that the author was being insincere or trying to tout themselves ... others may disagree.
Like I said, that is fine, it's what we free humans do. Each has to decide for themselves. I personally believe the message is one we should all consider.
No. If I had a nickel for every time some FReeper wrote "I guess the sheeple care more about their 401K plans than such and such..." I wouldn't need my 401K. Words have meaning. Isolating a particular group of people for a particular type of legitimately and ethically earned wealth, and assigning evil to those people, comes under the classification of hate, with the particular distinction of being anti-capitalist hate.
