Annan to address US public in nationally broadcast Town Hall meeting

9 October – Kofi Annan, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, will address the United States public on 11 October - one month to the day after the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington D.C. - during a Town Hall meeting that will be broadcast nationwide.

Moderated by Walter Cronkite, the event will enable Mr. Annan to engage the US public in a conversation by reaching out to their communities. Via satellite from the UN in New York, the Secretary-General will detail how the UN can support the global effort against terrorism. After his address, he will take questions from people gathered in ten cities - Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Seattle, St. Louis and Tampa.

Each individual city will host a panel of experts and a local moderator to facilitate ongoing discussion after the satellite portion of the broadcast concludes. The focus of the local meetings will be the impact of the terrorist attacks on the United States and the world. Some of the moderators include NBC's Bob Costas in St. Louis, former Colorado Senator Tim Wirth in Boston, and the National President of the League of Women Voters, Carolyn Jefferson-Jenkins, in Denver. The invitation only audience will be comprised of business and civic leaders, elected officials, youth, community leaders and clergy.

The Town Hall meeting is being produced by The Better World Campaign, a project of the Better World Fund, a sister organization to the United Nations Foundation. The Fund was created from a portion of an initial gift of $1 billion from American philanthropist and businessman Ted Turner. The organization is a bi-partisan, non-profit education and outreach initiative that aims to enhance awareness and appreciation for the work of the UN and the role it plays in international affairs.

Kofi by himself is not that bad. I know the man and he really is all right. He can be reasoned with even if he does not have all that much backbone. You are not talking to a cockroach here.

But that hand-picked leftist audience he's doing this with makes me puke my guts out. They will assure him that the American people really want surrender and he will ultimately be left scratching his head, not realizing how weird and unrepresentative these groups are.

Listen....I have watched you posting your propaganda for weeks now, Bush has done nothing to support your claims, he has not been cozying up to the U.N., you must remember Klinton is no longer residing at 1600 Pennsylvania avenue, I agree with you about the U.N. but your spinning the facts is getting very old. You should be over at democrat-underground, they could use the lessons, but your singing to the band here

According to the article, Annan's address is being done so that he may, "...engage the US public in a conversation by reaching out to their communities."

Why the hell should I care if the General Secretary of the United Nations wants to talk to me? Who in the hell is he to me, an American citizen?

MY President has already "reached out" to my "community" with his speech three weeks ago. I'd rather watch hockey on ESPN or something than watch Annan.

Kofi Annan is now acting much like Larry Klayman, he is trying to weasel his way into the spotlight, Why else would he want to hold a town hall meeting here. If he wants to do anything positive, he should go to Afghanistan and convince those terrorist bastards to give up before we kill every last one of them. BUT NO, he wants to have a town hall meeting here. He is just like the COWARD BILL CLINTON, he takes the path of least resistance. He is out to serve himself like a coward does, a leader serves for the benifit of others. BIG DIFFERENCE

International discussions about the world's water supplies began in 1977 when the United Nations held the first World Water Conference in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

The Conference declared the 1980s to be the "UN International Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation Decade". The altruistic goal was to ensure all people in the world had access to adequate water supplies and sanitation within a decade.

Ten years later, the Brundtland Commission told the world that our approach to development was unsustainable--but it had little to say about water. Then, in 1992, the Rio Conference on Environment and Development, in its "Agenda for the 21st Century" (known as "Agenda 21"), addressed fresh water in chapter 18 of its report. In 1996, the World Water Council, a private think-tank, was formed. The founding members were Egypt's Ministry of Public Works and Water Resources, the Canadian International Development Agency and the French transnational water corporation Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux. Other organisations supporting the start-up of the World Water Council were: * International Water Resources Association (IWRA)

* Istituto Agronomico Mediterraneo (CIHEAM- Bari)

* International Water Association (IWA)

* United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF)

* United Nations Development Program (UNDP)

* United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

* United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)

* United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)

* Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC)

* World Bank (WB)

* World Conservation Union (IUCN)

* World Health Organization (WHO)

* World Meteorological Association (WMA)

The World Water Council set about developing its vision for our future: a comprehensive document, The Long Term Vision for Water, Life and Environment,7 better known by its subtitle, World Water Vision, Making Water Everybody's Business.

At a 1998 meeting held in Washington, DC, the World Water Council appointed a group of commissioners to turn the World Water Vision into reality. The membership of the World Water Commission, as it became known, reads like a who's who of the ruling elite. The high profile commissioners include: * Yolanda Kababadse, President, World Conservation Union * Jessica Mathews, President, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, USA

* Robert S. McNamara, Co-Chair, Global Coalition for Africa * Maurice Strong, Chair, Earth Council, member of Commission on Global Governance, and a chief adviser in charge of the UN reform process

* Wilfred Thalwitz, former Senior VP, World Bank * Jerome Mondo, Chair of the Supervisory Board, Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux

Memo to Mr. Annan,

The Town Hall meeting has been rescheduled and moved to new location. It will now take place tonight at the airport bonfire in Kabul.

Please pass this memo along to Mr. Turner and his lovely ex-wife, as well.

Sincerely,

U.S.A.

Hey Kofi, Given the recent terrorist attacks on America and the UN's long-standing aiding and abetting of such organizations, could it be that this what UN founder David Rockefeller meant by,

"We are on the verge of a global transformation. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the New World Order."
