Stevens was described as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and gardening.

Also, as a photo editor, he was probably on the road everyday all over Florida - shooting pics. Check his itinerary to find out where he has been.

Sky News is reporting this 2nd Anthrax case as a "possible Terrorist act", seems like the US media are downplaying it for now.

Just another avenue of thought. It seems that the Sun shared offices with the National Enquirer. Who brought out all the dirt about Marc Rich, the National Enquirer.

Marc Rich is not the most "ethical" person in the world. He has the money and slimy contacts to pull this off if he wanted, IMHO. He could be using the present crisis as cover. This does not discount the possibilty of a islamic terrorist attack, but all avenues and characters who may want revenge against the National Enquirer, have to considered as "suspects", IMHO.

Originally, when I thought this was at the offices of a British publication, I thought that our allies were being targeted, too. Then when I realized that wasn't the case I couldn't figure out why go after these folks. The only thing I can think of is that terrorist manual that was found in Atta's luggage. Didn't that suggest going after the decadant part of American culture, or something like that? Could our tabloid pubs represent that to bin Laden?

If they found Anthrax in the building, how can that possibly be "a natural occurrence"???

Everyone has said Anthrax is not contagious. If that's the case, there is only one likely cause and it isn't natural…

BREAKING UPDATE

I have found out through very reliable local sources (employee who used to work there) that a package was mailed to the Stephens guy. The anthrax was found primarily on his desk and in the mail room. It now appears someone mailed the virus to the offices. The place is now not only crawling with anthrax it is swarmed with health officials and the FBI. Will let you guys know of any more information I get.

My wife is a medical technician in a laboratory at a Catholic hospital in Houston. Saturday night she identified what she thought was anthrax in a blood sample of a patient, except that it appeared to be gram negative, whatever that means. The patient is not responding to antibiotics. The hospital is extremely concerned and has contacted the CDC.

Last night, she tells me, four new patients were admitted with vaginal bleeding, a symptom often seen in anthrax patients. This is extremely unusual.

My wife is really on edge about all this, and I'm remaining very skeptical that there is any anthrax here at all. She might be seeing anthrax boogeymen everywhere. On the other hand, this is exactly how an outbreak would be first detected.

Take it for what it's worth.

Okay, you're convincing me. This is not an accident, coincidence, or unrelated incident. Well, it may be unrelated, but not a "natural occurrence" of anthrax.

What really concerns me is the lack of forthrightness from officials, and the apparent absence of a truly free press.

It would be interesting to know if the letter reported to contain the anthrax was addressed to this particular newsman and if the Sun had ever run any articles or editorials that would have displeased the Muslim terrorists who were living in the neighborhood.

I'm not convinced. There's nothing really new here. It's still unknown whether the 2nd case *is* a 2nd case or just exposure. I don't know how reliable the nasal tests are either.

If the anthrax 'found in the building' was limited to the dead victim's computer keyboard (see earlier in the thread) I can't see this any a terrorist act.

I'm not worried about this. Not yet. Too soon to tell.

About 300 people who work in the building

I wonder what might turn up on FBI background checks on any of these people.
Any new employees with unsavory ties to certain organizations
Just wondering....

Does this mean the war on terrorism is at a new level?

Do we take action like:

1. To counter a move by Bin Laden’s men first bring out nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against the US force fighting inside Afghanistan.

2. If a chemical or biological assault by the Taliban against Pakistan.

3. Should groups of bin Laden’s Al Qaeda network – either in Central Asia or the Balkans – wield these weapons of mass destruction against US military targets or US nuclear arms in other parts of the world.

4. If using them is the only way to save heavy American combat casualties.

It goes without saying.

The Anthrax connection to the Enquirer Base is interesting. Any connection to this week's lead story in the Enquirer? The story breaks the news of bin Laden's niece, who lived in New York City, she suddenly left the City a few days prior to the attack. Was Mr. Stevens connected to the story? Did he take photo's of the apartment, or cause them to be taken? What better way of getting to the public than through the tabloids... on every grocery store check out stand... also, where are all of the investigative reporters? working for the tabloids? Where is the FBI and the CIA?????

A co-worker of the man who died last week from anthrax also has tested positive for the disease and the building where both worked was closed after the bacterium was detected there.

[...snip...] Officials believe Stevens contracted anthrax naturally in Florida.

This doesn't jive. How can natuarally occuring anthrax appear in an office building?

I think this is related to the stories we've been hearing about manila envelopes with white powder in them. Even if the government doesn't believe this, I'm not opening any unknown envelopes and I'm emailing everyone I know not to also, just to be safe. Is this finaly a justifcation for mass email campaign?
