Found a great piece from fellow freeper One Particular Harbour, which I will refine and edit for use as somewhat of a credo:

My definitions of "conservative", "freedom" and "responsibility".

Conservatives are relunctant to use government power and authority to achieve social ends and expectations-and would leave social expectations to common sense and experience.

"Freedom" includes the ability to make one's own choices within the framework of behavior normally expected by society-without harming others.

"Responsibility" means paying for the consequences of your own behavior-and recognizing the inherent risks.
