U.S. says bus crash apparently "random" event

WASHINGTON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - The crash of a Greyhound bus in Tennessee on Wednesday appears to have been a "random" event unrelated to last month's terror attacks on the United States, the Transportation Department said.

The department believes "it was a random incident not related to the September 11 terrorist attacks," said Dave Longo, a spokesperson for the Federal Motorcarrier Administration, a division of the Transportation Department.

But he said there were conflicting reports "and we are waiting for more details to come in from the field."

Greyhound Lines suspended bus services across the United States after at least three people were killed in a crash that television reports attributed to a passenger attack on the bus driver.

Latest update: six dead. The killer, who had slashed the driver's throat, is still alive. He holds a Croatian identity card ("not a passport"). But they're still saying, "It wasn't terrorist-related.")

Isn't this an OVER-REACTION -- for a single-bus-event, somewhere in the country. I can't imagine Greyhound Bus Lines suspending all bus service across the country -- because of something like this.

If they did that, then either they're idiots -- or -- there is something more here that the public is not being told. So, what is it?

Here's what I have so far: A greyhound bus crashed and flipped when an attacker apparently slit the throat of the driver. 6 dead, including the driver and the attacker. On I-24 East, about 60 miles southeast of Nashville, tn. (In Murfreesborough area, a little east of there) no desription of the attacker, FBI arrived on scene about 0815 central time......

It probably is random in the vein that the perpetrator wasn't part of this "organized" jihad. My belief is that it is a sympathizer; one of those who believe that the US is the root of all the world's problems.

I also believe that this guy is quite the amateur. I think he wanted to hijack the bus and that is why he wanted the lady's seat directly behind the driver. Since she wouldn't give it up, he aborted his plan and just decided to cut the driver's throat instead. Apparently, nobody told him that the bus didn't have auto-pilot.

It gives me comfort that this happened relatively close to home, about halfway between Chattanooga and Nashville on a road I have occasion to travel. I'll be watching my mirror for the gray dog from now on.

Yesterday, he had a header up about Tony Blair saying "Reorder the World" or something. For several hours it was in black. Yes -- definitely. Betting money goes with that reasoning. If it's any other group, then it's a "random event". You can thank the Islamics for that "reasoning".

I disagree. When we grounded all planes on 9/11 I have heard several news articles about groups of arab speaking men arguing and suddenly leaving departure gates. I also heard that a passenger on the bus said the man who attacked the driver was anxiously asking for the time repeatedly before the attack. It does not take much to figure there may be a connection. All we need to look at is the actions in Israel to see this is the way the terrorists will act.

I emailed Drudge yesterday to ask why there is nothing on the site about the missing State Separtment crop dusting plane that was heading to Florida. I also asked why there was nothing on the missing HAZMAT truck and driver also missing from Florida. No reply, of course. Drudge sure seems to be slow on the homefront news - wonder why?

Croatian answers less questions than Muslim. If he is Croatian, he could be Muslim. Croatia has many muslim pockets. Also, it is geographically close to Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo which all have large ethnic Muslim populations. Yesterday it was even reported that Bin Laden has cells in Albania, and Kosovo.
