Posted on 10/01/2001 10:55:27 PM PDT by PrivacyChampion

This is a call to boycott National Review based on the firing of Ann Coulter. We must stand by Ann through this time and I call upon all FReepers to join the boycott by: 1. Not posting any material by NR magazine or its columnists 2. By cancelling your subscriptions 3. By cancelling advertising 4. By visiting their website and giving them a good FReeping Enjoin your comments on this thread.

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity.">

On two threads now, I've seen this quote propagandized into "forceably convert them to Christianity"

You are quite correct. Anyone who knows her biting sarcasm would know the sense this was delivered in.

Another link deleted from the favorite list. If this keeps up I'll have room for plenty more!

2. By cancelling your subscriptions

Don't have one

Well then, take out a subscription and then cancel it! :-)

3. By cancelling advertising

You mean boycotting advertisers, too? Isn't that a little tired?

It's what works.

This is a call to boycott National Review based on the firing of Ann Coulter.

"Firing" and no longer running a syndicated column are two totally different things.

I totally support a boycott of National Review but not for this. Does anyone remember what happened to Joe Sobran? That was "important" instance of NR censoring and selling out an authentic conservative. This imbroglio is hardly a blip on the radar screen of conservative history.

Her article was strong, but absolutely true. I believe Barbara Olson was her very close friend; if she was in the mood to strike out in a brazen way, it's understandable. Jonah can be over the top and insulting himself in his writing.

I thought the August 30th issue was great, filled with a few almost prescient articles on the threats to the nation , both from abroad and from the leftists at home.

I was just about to renew my suscription when I learned of the imbecile Goldberg's uncalled for "PC" firing of a woman who has the courage to write what more and more Americans will in time come to realize as the inescapable truth.

He needs to issue an apology and rehire her before they'll get another dime out of me.

The organization F.L.A.M.E. runs a full page ad in NR every month denouncing the Arabs as the murderers they are, so NR won't limit the speech of their paid advertisers, only the hired help.

A bunch of hypocrites.

If anyone has some old NR laying around, look and see if they have those postcard inserts in them, soliciting a subscription. Usually they're postage-paid already. You might want to just write a short note across the lines you're supposed to fill in, and let them know that you might have just suscribed, but now that they're done something so STUPID as fire Anne Coulter, you don't want to.

That way, they not only get to hear how you feel, but they have to pay for the privilege.

I'm not a subscriber, but I will look for some in the library and do my part.

FREEP AWAY - LET's ROLL

I have it on good authority from the editor of another periodical which Ann Coulter writes for that she is "high strung." If Coulter is difficult to work for maybe she deservably got herself into this mess. It doesn't surprise me, the woman looks anorexic and strung out on caffeine amongst, most likely, other things . Coulter may have some good insights but perhaps being dumped will be ultimately beneficial to her.

Can you back that up with some proof?

Great minds think alike. I didn't read very far before I posted my suggestion, which I found out was your suggestion first. You ROCK!

It's easy to boycott that buffoon of a periodical. William Buckley is no different than Noam Chomsky, he's an arrogant fool that loves the sound of his own voice and listens to that instead of paying attention to current events.

It is policies such as the pro-Kosovo stance of National Review that got us to where we are Today, no conservative needs that rag and liberals never liked it either, it will go the way of Maher. Coulter can do much better.

"Just sent an email telling them what I think..."

Ditto, one to Jonah, and one to Rich Lowry to let him know I will NOT be renewing my subscription.
