News Advisory:

On Oct. 1, "First Monday 2001," a national campaign promoting education and action to end gun violence, will unveil "Gun Industry Watch," a student-led watchdog group -- the first of its kind -- that will demand accountability from the gun industry and gun lobby.

This year's "First Monday" film "Deadly Business," by award-winning documentary filmmaker Glen Pearcy, is a powerful expose of the gun industry and the methods it uses to ensure guns remain the least regulated and most deadly consumer product sold in America. "Deadly Business" reveals how the gun industry and the NRA market mayhem to America. The film features Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), Common Cause President Scott Harshbarger and others. "Deadly Business" is the cornerstone of "First Monday" events in cities and on campuses and will launch a year of activities calling on the gun industry to take responsibility for its business practices.

Who:
Law students, medical students, nursing students, social work students and undergrads; Million Mom March activists; gun control groups; and community organizers across America.

What:
Over 150 "First Monday: Unite to End Gun Violence" events will occur simultaneously across America, including "Deadly Business" screenings and panel discussions and campaign organizing meetings.

Where:
In major cities and college campuses across the country, including major events in: Albany, N.Y.; Atlanta, Ga.; Austin, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Durham, N.C.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; St. Louis, Mo.; Washington, D.C.

When:
Monday, Oct. 1, 2001

"First Monday 2001: Unite to End Gun Violence" is a national campaign coordinated by the Alliance for Justice, in conjunction with Physicians for Social Responsibility. Led by young people, "First Monday" promotes education and action to end gun violence. More than 140 national and state groups have co-sponsored "First Monday 2001," including the Brady Campaign, the Million Mom March, the National Education Association, the American Bar Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, the Children's Defense Fund, and the United States Student Association.

More information on "First Monday 2001" is available at www.firstmonday2001.com, or at the Alliance for Justice Web site at www.afj.org.

Of course, the gun education they'll be recieving will be propaganda booklets from the Socialist gun grabbers.
What does "gun safty" have to do with the gun industry, the NRA, or any honest citizen who owns a gun?
If the liberals kill themselves playing with guns, maybe they should learn how to use them.
Otherwise, leave the rest of the country out of their Nazi anti-arms club.
This is a bad time for them to attempt to disarm the citizens of this nation. So, I certainly hope they end up "shooting themselves in the foot."

We are members of the the NRA. They fight for our rights , keep a watch on the left wing communist , their left wing lies and lust for ultimate control of the free citizens of this country. .
Anyone who is not a member should be.
I would be ashamed not to be a member.

This is a hoot. Here in my town, "First Monday" is the name of a monthly Republican lunch program, which has existed longer than most of those gun grabbers have been eligible to vote.

"Deadly Business" reveals how the gun industry and the NRA market mayhem to America.

I've been a member of the NRA for years and have yet to see them marketing mayhem. The NRA, remember, promotes tough sentencing for crimes committed with a gun, Eddie The Eagle gun safety programs through the nation, and CrimeStrike, a program that has proven very successful in greatly reducing gun violence. Rather than acknowleging these positive steps the old "let's attack" attitude prevails in the anti-gun groups and Democratic Party.

I would be ashamed to admit I was a member, if I were. The NRA is the largest and best funded gun control group.

Students need to ask questions and learn.. They should not be trying to save humanity from a percieved threat. All college professors should now be forced to pass a stringent security investigation.. That should fix the problem.
