News Advisory:

On Oct. 1, "First Monday 2001," a national campaign promoting education and action to end gun violence, will unveil "Gun Industry Watch," a student-led watchdog group -- the first of its kind -- that will demand accountability from the gun industry and gun lobby.

This year's "First Monday" film "Deadly Business," by award-winning documentary filmmaker Glen Pearcy, is a powerful expose of the gun industry and the methods it uses to ensure guns remain the least regulated and most deadly consumer product sold in America. "Deadly Business" reveals how the gun industry and the NRA market mayhem to America. The film features Sen. Richard Durbin (D-Ill.), Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-N.Y.), Common Cause President Scott Harshbarger and others. "Deadly Business" is the cornerstone of "First Monday" events in cities and on campuses and will launch a year of activities calling on the gun industry to take responsibility for its business practices.

Who:
Law students, medical students, nursing students, social work students and undergrads; Million Mom March activists; gun control groups; and community organizers across America.

What:
Over 150 "First Monday: Unite to End Gun Violence" events will occur simultaneously across America, including "Deadly Business" screenings and panel discussions and campaign organizing meetings.

Where:
In major cities and college campuses across the country, including major events in: Albany, N.Y.; Atlanta, Ga.; Austin, Texas; Denver, Colo.; Durham, N.C.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Pittsburgh, Pa.; St. Louis, Mo.; Washington, D.C.

When:
Monday, Oct. 1, 2001

"First Monday 2001: Unite to End Gun Violence" is a national campaign coordinated by the Alliance for Justice, in conjunction with Physicians for Social Responsibility. Led by young people, "First Monday" promotes education and action to end gun violence. More than 140 national and state groups have co-sponsored "First Monday 2001," including the Brady Campaign, the Million Mom March, the National Education Association, the American Bar Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Public Health Association, the Children's Defense Fund, and the United States Student Association.

More information on "First Monday 2001" is available at www.firstmonday2001.com, or at the Alliance for Justice Web site at www.afj.org.

The gun industry? You mean the folks who build the weapons our boys are taking to the Middle East? The ones we're using to hit the bastards who killed 7,000 of our countrymen in New York?

Let the Democrats go after them. We will hang this around their neck and light it on fire in coming election cycles. Even Clinton now admits that gun-control was a losing issue for the Democrats in 2000.

Not long ago, people understood and valued the hard work that went into raising a family and caring for their property and business, working for a decent future. They learned very early to protect their own. These spoiled children are self-involved, often unmarried with no children and living day to day. Here's hoping a few wise adults break through their thick skulls.

Guns?? Hell, they better start going after the box cutter and pocketknife industries. No one should need anything sharper than a plastic spoon to open packages or cut steak.

"...Even after 9/11, these people still don't believe in protecting our Constitution. Let the Freepin' begin..."

ESPECIALLY after 9/11...

Their comrades make a frontal assault, these traitors hit one of our flanks. SOP for the enemies of America and the Constitution.

These aren’t innocent members of some patriotic ‘Loyal Opposition’. These are bona-fide G.D. traitors, whose agenda is the destruction of our Bill of Rights and our way of life.

They deserve to be tried on charges of treason and, if found to be complicit in this treachery, condemned to death and executed.

Of course, these idiots were soundly ignored last year. What are the chances they will even raise an eyebrow this year?

Here is my e-mail to the idiots:

Subject: We need the gun industry

I am very disappointed that you would bother with your utopian demonstrations in light of recent tragedies. The firearms industry is essential to our democracy. Marksmanship training from a young age is essential to our national defense. Guns should be respected, not demonized.

As a 16-year police officer, I have never felt threatened by honest citizens owning or carrying firearms. You will note that the terrorist hijackings were undertaken against defenseless, unarmed citizens by knife-wielding criminals. If the pilots had access to guns with fragmenting ammunition, these disasters could have been averted.

The positions you advocate would place Americans at greater risk. At least have the decency to stop calling for the disarment of America just when we need to call our fellow citizens to arms!

Hey, leftist parasites? If you're sure you want to steal my guns, go ahead and try it--but it might be a good idea to be completely sure you can outshoot me and are entirely willing to lay your life on the line trying, because a.) I'll bet my life I can outshoot you, and b.) I'll stand and fight.
