Powell ought to keep his big mouth shut. he has been more of an embarassment than an asset.

When the +!?#$@@@##(#(#*&^##!!! did he get elected king of the U.S.???????? I see his days as numbered in this administration if he doesn't learn how to shut the hell up.

Another of the many reasons why Powell is not the right man for the job, did you notice that the President didn't even shake Powell's hand after his speach thursday night.
I think Bush is tired of taking Powell's wimpy advice, wasn't it his advice that kept us from finishing Hussain with Bush Sr.

Powell may let Taliban remain in power...POWELL may let?
I think there is a guy named Bush who may have other thoughts in mind. (hopefully)

Powell is not in charge. He's not even number two and I don't think he's even number three or number four. And if he resigns now history will show he's just a little snit who wanted to be appointed president but wouldn't run because he was afraid he'd get shot. Even Clinton was braver than that. You can see I don't like Powell. I predict he won't be around long. Right now he's probably more pissed than Clinton about Bush's popularity.

Does someone have the complete text of Powell's statement. MSNBC is not the President's press secretary and there could be a lot of context left out.
Britain, at least, is reported as eager to be a lawnmower to the grass of the Taliban if they don't cough up all the terrorists (not just bin Laden). I believe Powell's "may" won't come to pass. The Taliban will stiffen their necks and they will get creamed.

For the life of me, I can't believe that Powell and Bush are working on different pages. I almost think that they are pulling off a huge disinformation campaign, but who knows. I remember Powell shoveling $hit right at the media during the Persian Gulf War and having them eat it up. I remember Powell going on and on about the marine amphibious landings that never happenened as we did a hail mary.
All I can say is that if Powell is truly trying to undermind the administration's efforts, then his days are numbered. the State department is full of leftists anyway.

Letting the taliban remain in power makes less sense than anything I've heard lately. (Sigh)

This sounds like "good cop, bad cop" to me. The administration is attempting to get something from this. I seriously doubt that Powell says anything he is not authorized to.

Powell should never have been appointed. I knew it then, and I know it now. BIG MISTAKE.
