"But when I hear a prominent Republican congressman state that it's not off the table, that extreme times may call for estreme measures (HE SAID THIS ON A NATIONALLY TELEVISED SHOW), I think it's time to be just a wee bit concerned???"Go nuts.
You be concerned about this guy & I'll be concerned when my POTUS says it.
Our POTUS has the veto over this guy's & any of the other congresscritter's brain-farts, eh.
C?
Serenity Prayer comes in real handy for just these kind of matters.
If you do that one right?
It has the power to release you to concentrate on the real issues at hand.
Oh, & DL?
I'd still be wary of the Lamestream & the cowardly quislings who'd play to 'em.
Yup. That's what I'd do; & as a matter of fact, that's what I am doing.
That, plus what I left on your machine?
Is all I'm going to say for right now. OK?
Have yourself a great day.

I agree! Can you imagine what kind of information could be stored in those databases and connected to this card. You LEGALLY purchase a firearm and fill out the appropriate forms... it goes ont he card. You attend a Catholic church... logged on the card. Voted for a Republican... logged on the card etc etc etc
I can see it now...
Airport security: Hmmmmm, this law abiding citizen owns a firearm (or is Catholic or Republican or whatever), we'd better detain him and search his bags. Or maybe they're liberal security agents and just plain old want to detain you for being a gun owner (Catholic, Republican or whatever)... Meanwhile non-citizen, non-national ID card holding terrorist walks through security and boards plane...
I'm not much into conspiracies but this whole idea is just plain BAD!!!
Not to mention as many others have stated this does NOTHING to prevent the problem that supposedly this is intended to prevent. If someone knows how this addresses the current problem then please elaborate.

Yes, that's it. Mark Davis.
By all means lift it. I have no copyright on logic. :)

I cannot disagree with any of your comments or statements. You're correct. This situation is just different and I will do what's necessary to save our country, for I believe these terrorists are here to destroy US, our capitalist system. What good is FREEDOM if we're dead? I rather work the details later. I MAY be WRONG!!!!

What is YOUR solution?
Should we control our borders? Should we kick out all non citizens? Should we kick out all Arabs non citizens?

Clintoon (the number 1 citizen or public enemy number 1 depending on how you look at it) has asked for the first national identity card. Due to the fact that the program was written in C instead of Fortran, the indexing started at 0 instead of 1. Fitting, since he has always been a big fat zero.

What happens when this little light imbedded in my hand starts flashing red?
To: Benrand
we'll see them trying to get the guns out of the street to make the cities of the US as safe as Kabul The government should be handing OUT guns to all it's citizens.

....with an overwhelming majority calling for the cards to be packed with information to clearly identify the holder: These include photograph (97%), date of birth (96%) eye color (92%), a finger print (85%), DNA details (75%), criminal records (74%) and religion (67%). DNA details and RELIGION???
We already have a National ID really, its called SS#.
How is a National ID card going to stop terrorism? Someone who has terrorist aspirations can legally immigrate, recieve a National ID card and then 2 days or months or years later commit an act of terrorism.
I don't buy it, this is crap.

Destroy the terrorists.....not our liberities!! I agree 100%. Now how do you propose to do this without losing some of your freedoms????? I'd like a solution.

"We need a national ID card with our photograph and thumbprint digitized and embedded in the ID card," (Oracle CEO Larry) Ellison said in an interview Friday night on the evening news of KPIX-TV in San Francisco. If Microsoft had suggested this, Ellison would be running to his lawyers, the DOJ, and Hillary!

Sure, while we're at it, why not make everyone have their card to buy bread, chips, cookies, gas, etc., then Our Government can turn it off if you say anything they dont like. It is truly unbelieveable that we are racing towards the bottom with this 'new' idea.
To: DLfromthedesert
It's so weird right now...the only people I know who won't get involved in this...are those on the far right and the far left.
I suspect we'll have all the Moderates ID'd.

What is YOUR solution? How is that relevant? I asked you just how forcing us all to be registered with the federal gov't would stop terrorists. I don't accept that just because Dick Gephardt has said that "it's for national security," it somehow has been proven that it will prevent terrorist attacks.
My solution is that we start with destroying the radical Islamic terrorist groups abroad. They, not us, are, after all, the ones who did this.

"We've been distracted by our foreign enemies the last couple of weeks, but it's important to remember that we have no small number of domestic enemies as well.
Domestic enemies who, by the way, deserve PRECISELY the same fate that our foreign enemies do."
Very well said!!!! We the People need to keep an eye on those in Washington, especially during this time of emotional upheaval!!! And as for the ID card with the implanted chip, this is all simply leading up to the Mark of the Beast referred to in Revelation in the Bible. I suggest that every single American strongly oppose the ID card. It will do absolutely NOTHING to deter the BAD people, IMHO!!
To: Katya
Well, you know what happens to those in the middle of the road!!

This situation is just different and I will do what's necessary to save our country, for I believe these terrorists are here to destroy US, our capitalist system. I believe you are here to destroy our Constitution.
What good is FREEDOM if we're dead?
What good are we if we aren't free?

I don't believe I have a problem with National ID cards either. However, taking my gun away is another story. I think we should train more people in the use of guns.

Somebody needs to inform Bush and his friends on Capitol Hill that the government's foremost responsibility is to protect our freedoms I'd say our FEDERAL governments foremost responsibility is to protect its citizens from HARM. It is responsible for the SAFETY & SECURITY of it's citizens FIRST and FOREMOST. Without our survival, we need not be concerned with our "freedoms."
Our previous clueless President failed terribly, in this regard. Now we're reaping the after effects.
