"For weeks, agents hit him with a chair and a long piece of wood, forced water into his mouth, and crushed lighted cigarettes into his private parts,"
Note to self. Don't ever get arrested in Manilla.

Passports...including Norwegian... not exactly the Mid East type.
And they passed the information on, so authorities knew in advance, not that they knew when, BUT airport security remained a risk, and we are supposed to bail their sorry a**es out of debt?????

I'm sure the Pope was the least concerned person in the world when he heard about this. The man who attempted to assassinate him back in 1981, Mehmat Ali Agca, was interviewed by an Italian reporter a few years ago, and he said that there was no doubt in his mind that the Pope had been protected by divine intervention.
"I was an assassin by trade," he said, "and the Pope was the first person to ever survive one of my attempts."
I thought that was interesting.

Stunning stuff. If our government knew this much about these guys, why hasn't it done more to stop them?
