Loose lips sink ships.</font color>.

Now, more than in any previous war, loose ships can sink ships.
In WWII, if you let slip when and where a ship was sailing, it might be met by a U-boat.
In this war, it's more likely to met with an act of sabotage. This war is "spy versus spy." When you're discussing what you heard from your friend in the reserves, (not just on FR, but with friends and neighbors in "meatspace" too) keep "need to know" at the front of your mind.

Was listening to the radio on the way to a high school football game last night and one of the callers referred to a website that was touting Loose Lips Sink Ships and asking everyone to remember! I called the station and it turned out the person had identified Free Republic on air! The next caller from the military said that this statement is as true today as before if not even more so.
The caller was talking about how these terrorist use the Internet to find out information and turn on CNN and the cable news. He went on to say that they don't have the intelligence network to find out what individual bases are doing and to be very wary of anyone you don't know asking for information on the Internet about individual deployments.
So the next person who asks us for any information on our local bases or make fun of us for this warning -- let's tell them where they can go!

Bump!
To: JohnHuang2 and all
We are in a guerrilla war, more or less like we were in Vietnam, only this time it's world-wide. Terrorism is only one aspect of such a struggle. Other areas which the bad guys will try to attack are psychological, economic, cultural, social, and any other area which makes America--America.
Additionally, we have enemy ears among us, just as we had in WW II. Thus, keep your lip zipped.
With the communication facilities available to our enemies today (email, spectrum-hopping radio, etc), the danger of the word about any close-hold info getting to the bad guys is so much more enhanced today that it was in WW II.
In addition to the obvious things such as troop movements, deployments, etc, the recent attacks and assaults on citizens of Middle Eastern ethinicity serves to give the other side a wedge to divide the solidarity of the American people. This is one example of the psychological and cultural attacks which can be used against us.
Sorry, I didn't mean to preach. I guess the ideas which I learned as a boy in WW II are coming back to me.
God Bless the USA
