Is Maher/Politically Incorrect Going Off the Air?
Politically Incorrect | September 21, 2001 | GreatOne

Posted on 09/20/2001 11:02:26 PM PDT by GreatOne

While watching the show right now (up late working), it appeared that Maher was saying that he might not have a show for much longer. Whether he's exaggerating or not, I don't know, but he seems to be pulling a Dan Rather (on Letterman) while talking about his controversy, and saying things like, "I don't care if I have my show. What's important to me is telling the truth." Seems like the pressure on his producers/advertisers is working.

Courage is courage, and it doesn't matter if it is the enemy or yourself exhibiting it.

I never heard suicide described as courage until now.

>>I never heard suicide described as courage until now.<<

They didn't commit suicide. They gave their lives to accomplish a mission they couldn't accomplish in any other way. Admitting they were brave doesn't mean you agree with what they did,and takes nothing away from you.

"They didn't commit suicide."

It was quite clearly suicide because the underlining reason for killing themselves was pure selfishness, as suicide is the most selfish act a person can do.

As with the kamikazes in WWII, the suicide-pilots were taught that by killing themselves for their faith would bring them into a certain type of "heaven;" besides the fact that they knew they were fighting a war they could never win and in desperation (a prerequisite for suicide) killed themselves to seek "eternal notoriety," another selfish act.

Time to sell my Disney stock. Bye bye Mickey.

I will not own stock in a company that supports trash like Maher.

"Courage" and "boldness" are not synonymous. Courage is boldness in defense of what's good. It is not morally neutral. Boldness in defense of what's evil is by definition not courageous, it's, well, boldness, audaciousness, fanatacism, or what have you.

Even if you throw out that remark, he still indicated that terrorists that slit the throats of women, that kill civilians, that kill women and children are brave.

Bill has just finally gone too far and offended those that count, the advertisers. You don't say on national TV that the military is cowardly because they shoot missiles or indicate that men are brave just because they are willing to sacrifice their lives. He chose to ignore the fact that those brave men slit the throats of stewardesses to get control of the plane, killed innocent passengers and killed 6000 civilians.

There was nothing at all brave about what the terrorists did or do.

I hope ABC has the sense to realize that Maher is not worth the bad press given to ABC because of this show. It just reinforces the fact to me that I don't find what I'm looking for on ABC anymore. In the past it was my favorite station.

Please don't get delusional on us now.

Re. #44 .."one of my best friends.."

There is no news in that statement. Everybody knows the news media has contempt for conservative thought. So are you in concert with your "best friend"? Are you a lurking flaming liberal?

Yeah, even Rush was bending over to give Maher a pass. I don't understand it except to think that it must be a case of the "entertainment" show host defending one of their own. You have to realize that these guys take a particular position not based on personal principles, but do so so that they can earn a buck. It is not much more than a game with them and they don't even take themselves seriously. Maher of course, is just plain rude and obnoxious and lacking in talent. He isn't particularly smart or even funny either. I wrote to all the sponsors of the PI show and asked to withdraw their support simply because Maher and his show are a real waste of time.

You are quite right. Actually, I rarely see ratings for PI itself. It's usually dumped in with Nightline. Not surprisingly the ratings for those two are half of Leno and much lower than Letterman.

They do go up when there is a major news event, but my guess is that is residual from Koppel.

>>He said that our military are the cowards.<<

>>No,he did NOT. He said our GOVERNMENT were cowards for firing cruise missles<<

You're both wrong. He said "WE" were cowards for lobbing cruise missiles, but steadfastly refuses to accuse Slick, even when pinned down.

So if he didn't mean the military, and he didn't mean Slick, who is "we?"
