Interesting Story Re Hijackings
Posted on 09/20/2001 2:47:22 PM PDT by Positive
I heard this afternoon that the 4 planes that crashed had large blocks of seats that were purchased but no-showed.
Perhaps just to keep the ratio of passengers to terrorists low.
Anybody else hear this, my source was hearsay from a client.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My sincere condolences.
I am confused, did all three, Ruth McCourt, her 4-year old daughter, and Paige Hackel all get on doomed flights?
To: Maceman
Paige Hackel was from Newton, where I work. I probably took her in my cab once or twice. Even if I didn't, it's still close to home. She sounded like a nice person.

According to Ruth McCourt's husband, the reason they were on seperate flights was Hackel had a discount ticket for one airline and the McCourts had frequent flier miles on the other airline. All of the flights chosen had very few passengers on them because of the time they left and were chosen by the terrorist for that purpose. A large block purchase of first class seats and then a vast majority of no shows is a red flag for an airline and would likely result in the plane not leaving on time. That was not the case.

I heard that they deliberately selected lightly-traveled flights.

Michael Savage speculated about this on September 12.
Listen to Savage if you want to stay up to date.

Then again, we have heard lots of urban legends, like to cop who rode the debris down from the 82nd floor. No evidence to verify it.Not true. The "evidence" was a report by a man in a hospital bed who claimed this was what happened to him. ( didn't recall he was a cop ). It was carried live by national TV. I watched it thinking that the guy was either lying or delerious. The news clip ended when his wife in tears rushed in and hugged him.
Even though his report was unbelievable to my knowledge the news people never questioned the veracity of the man.

Your son is correct but the man who claimed it is probably lying or delerious.

You take a flight that crashes two to three times a month? Man, you're lucky! Had to say that.

Regarding the 82 story falling miracle man. What is the man's name, and where has this been reported? Is there a single newspaper who has carried it? Any online reports we can verify? News film clips we can download?

If you send that story to 10 of your friends, you get a Gap certificate.

What is the man's name,Don't recall. Why would I and others lie about seeing it on TV ?
and where has this been reported?
I get three major networks and was channel surfing. It was probably Fox news because someone on another thread mentioned carrying it on CNN and Fox.
Is there a single newspaper who has carried it?
If the guy created the story then I doubt anyone carried it after it was broadcast.
Any online reports we can verify?
A number of people on this thread annd others have reported the same news clip. Why would we all create the same story ?
News film clips we can download?
I don't know.
My guess is that the man's claims were aired live without anyone verifying the facts and that later it was found and understood to be impossible, so it was never aired again. A lot of wrong stuff got reported like the rescue of the firefighters in the SUV.
So, in summary the report was not created out of thin air. It was based on the claims of a survivor which was broadcast on television. The guy was obviously lying or mistaken because no one could survive a fall from so far. If he was in the building and not a nut who created the report for a sick reason he probably blacked out and doesn't remember going down the stairs.

Apparently its still being reported without question

They try to hold on to some hope. They remember always the two Port Authority cops - rescued early Wednesday - who were spared after riding the building down 82 floors.
"By the grace of God, they were both alive," Barnes said. "That was a good feeling. You think of those two guys and you say there's hope."
