GOD DID IT, PART II
Dynamist.com ^

GOD DID IT, PART II: Reader Randall Parker calls my attention to this Worldnet Daily article by Anthony C. LoBaido, which makes Jerry Falwell's offensive theodicy look sophisticated and kind. A small sample:

Is New York the head of the "Great Satan"? All that is evil in the world can be found in New York: MTV, the United Nations, the U.N. abortion programs, the Council on Foreign Relations, New Age Church of St. John the Divine, Wall Street greed, Madison Avenue manipulation and of course more confirmed AIDS cases than the rest of America combined. Let's remember the filthy sodomite gay parade last summer in New York. Let's remember all the New York politicians falling all over themselves to praise this sick spectacle.

And let's not forget that New Yorkers elected—by a landslide—the openly Marxist, treasonous and abortion-mongering, occultic Hillary to a Senate seat. All while fully knowing what she was all about.

So are we all innocent here in New York? Are we innocent with our porno, drugs, filthy Jay Leno monologues, our idolatry, materialism and consumerism? Innocent when Republican Governor George Pataki stands next to the blood-stained dictator of Communist China as he rings the opening bell for the stock market on Wall Street?...

Can the remnant in America help but honestly ask themselves: Is this the fulfillment of Revelation chapters 17 and 18 (Mystery Babylon) or has God raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America?

These guys should apologize to their fellow Americans, but first they should apologize to God. Since WND chooses to end the piece with a plug for my friend Hugh Hewitt's book, implicating Hugh in the article's sentiment, I've asked Hugh for a response. I hope he will cancel his Worldnet Daily column. Free speech is essential as government policy, but there are some people, as Ramesh Ponnuru puts it in this excellent column, whom civilized people should not let into our houses. Not only LoBaido but the editors who published him should be shunned. [Posted 9/15.]

Persecution makes me more motivated. The Lord wants his followers among the tax collectors, prostitutes, atheists, ect.

These debates spread the word regardless of the static.-MM

This is a good subject to discuss if people would stick to the scripture and quit engaging in personal attacks against a participant.

If posters believe God; state your opinions based upon scripture. Otherwise if it is just your opinion and can't point to teaching in the Bible, it carries no weight and you should be ignored.

I hear a lot of people on threads like this who talk about what God does or doesn't do just because they made up their own imaginary "God" and then decided how their imaginary God acts.

Very good post.

That one moron said he would beat up any fundamentalist who thinks God judges nations for sin. I know a few who would rip his silly head off and go bowling with it if he was dumb enough to try. With love and charity and all that of course.

Again, Good post.

I'm still trying to figure out why an atheist would care so passionately about what a christian thinks regarding the motives of a God he doesn't believe exists.

Because even the world around us testifies to God..our heart know even if we deny with our lips..thats why!

I think the point of Amos 3:6b is very clear.

God can do as He pleases. As a matter of fact, He always does as He pleases (Psalms 115:3).

I think the answer lies in the book of Job. God removed his protection from Job to the point satan could do any thing he wanted but could not kill him.

I believe God removed His protection from this country because of the rebellious sinful attitude it has. It has tried to kick God out of normal life in this country

Recommened reading for everybody is a book written by Don McAlvany called "Storm Warning" It is well documented with material which coinsides with all of this

Be assured any time God removes His protection from anything It becomes fair game for satan and his crowd.

Regards

don

This is truth for nations or individuals. God speaks of hard trials believers will go through in their lives and what to do when they come and combined with other scriptures he tells you what good they produce in your life. He says he will prune each believer and then tells why.

Please see my #226.

I'm not sure anyone has figured out all of the Book of Revelations, but I do understand Amos 3:6. (For that matter, I think most of today's churchgoers ought to spend a little more time thinking about what Revelation 20 is actually saying. I think they are going to be surprised when the Lord returns.)

>>>Why do you take a prophecy addressed specifically to Old Testament Israel and treat it as though it was talking to everybody?

We follow the Lord Jesus Christ who grafted us into the tree of Israel.  Who do you follow, John Appleseed?

Apparently the Ayn Rand Institute's issuing a new medal, for the thousandth Christian driven off Free Republic.

Take it easy on 'em. They're still trying to come to grips with the fact that she didn't rise from the dead.

"But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, "Why have you made me like this?" Does not the potter have power over the clay, from the same lump to make one vessel for honor and another for dishonor? What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory." -- Romans 9:20-23

But I think the Scripture is clear that God does not use calamities like this as punishments. Job and his three buddies thought that Job's sufferings were due to some sin on Job's part, but were quickly corrected when God reintroduces Job and friends to the concept of his Sovreignty. Why was Job suffering? To vindicate God in declaring Job to be righteous.

Now that doesnt mean that God will not use this tragic event to his ultimate glory. I think one of the major problems in the Calvinism vs. Free Will threads we've always had is that we unconsciously forget that God is not bound by time as we are-- He invented it!!! Thus, his foreknowledge is not just academic (like the Emperor in the STAR WARS movies -- "I have forseen it"), but is proactive. That is how the elect can be written in the Book of life from the foundation of the world. His foreknowledge is also his omnipotence. (struggling to describe the infinate with my poor language!!)

So, God may use these tragic events to his greater glory. America may see a revival from this-- who knows? America could topple as a judgment for her sins. Who knows? All I know is that there were innocent people killed in the attack. There were little kids killed in the attacks. There were almost certainly believers killed in the attacks. So this could not be a judgment for sin.

You people are relating this to life on Earth. Do you all actually believe Heaven doesnt compare to life here? Jesus hung from a cross for us... It was terrible for Jesus but God allowed it to save us all and point us to him.... But its beyond comprehension. Dont analyze Gods work as you dont have 1/1000000000000000 (less than that...) of his capacity.

OWK, "this is pretty sick stuff"

No, it's God's word...

It's too much all at once, the Rev's of this world come on pretty strong most of the time. However, reading it with understanding and a very contrite spirit, it's quite clear. I'm not defending the revolving Rev's, but only the true word of God.....

I'm not going to get into a discussion of the word of God with you because talking on the net is like giving 10,000 people a microphone in one room and the Rev's would probably say there talking in tongues, ha, ha, ha, or other words "Babal", a derivative of Babalyon.....

In HIS Service.
