America Rising
Terrorists linked to Bin Laden have struck at US targets before. The first WTC car bombing, the USS Cole, our African embassies....
America yawned, yet lives had been lost. They had our attention as a nation for mere days. We have been at war, or under attack at any rate, since at least 1993.
Finally, though, the people or sheeple, have awakened to the threat posed to this nation and to freedom.
America has become angry, angry enough that China, Cuba and even Iran has expressed grief and sorrow so as to be 'with us' and not 'against us'. They know the power of this country and are now afraid it'll be used.
America is waving the flag and seems depressed at the same time. We should be sad and shocked at the loss of life, that ghastly horror shown all over TV. We should also be proud that those in this nation who never cared are no longer blind to reality.
We wave the flag and we pray. We pray in public and in school and ignore ACLU. We have decided to defend our freedom from all enemies foreign and domestic.
One night I was planning to write a letter to the editor about why eagles are rare and turkeys are not. I wake up to the saddest image in my life.
This attack has not brought us to our knee's.
America is awake
America is rising to its natural place as a super-power.

Its been there through the good times and its always there in the bad. We almost never remember, we seem to take it for granted. How many times did we wave our flags during the past 8 years? Not many.
Last Monday at the Post Office and schools we didn't give it a second look. Now its always around and on our mind.
Its there, its always there. Its been kicked around and ignored for a while, but its strong and it remains.

To My Dearest America,
I know how you hurt when one of your sons or daughters are killed, they were my friends too, and I also weep at their passing, but we must be strong and not forget what they gave up for you and I to remain.
I went to visit all the family members today, here is what I saw, I saw a young daughter crying for her daddy to come home, but daddy will never get to make it home to this young girl for he died fighting to help another little girl’s daddy make it home to her.
I saw a mother clinging to the picture of the only son she had ever known, weeping for just one more chance to say “I love you son”, but that will never be, for he died trying to help a son be able to hear his mother say those very words.
Here was another scene that I gazed upon, a wife with tears flowing down her face, for she had forgotten to kiss her husband goodbye, but he would never receive that sweet kiss goodbye, for he and some other souls fought bravely in the sky, to save thousands of husbands kisses goodbye.
This type of visit was replayed over and over again at each place I went,mothers and fathers all in despair, brothers and sisters tired and worn, friends and relatives from all walks of life devastated by these cowardly acts.
My last stop was in an office where there was the commander and chief with his head buried in tears, weeping for the thousands that had perished, as I started to leave he stood and wiped away his tears, and told me to go, he said go and fly through this land from sea to shining sea, like you have done for hundreds of years, Yes fly high he said, for all to see.
So my dear America I write you these words, to let you know and your people know, that I will always be your friend and that no terrorist act will ever injure me.

As a nation we haven't been this angry since Pearl Harbor, and this one killed more people and these were civilians instead of sailors.
We are an angry nation, and we should be.
I don't think the idea, even as a point on capitalism, of eating our national symbol is proper right now.

Absolutely not. There is a major difference between the current situation and Vietnam. Vietnam truly divided this country. Nearly 30 years later, the wounds still remain. Even the most hawkish and conservative among us can cite reasons why we never should have gotten involved in Vietnam. Vietnam never posed a risk to America. Fighting the commies in Vietnam had no bearing whatsoever on our national security.
However, you can be assured that if the Viet Cong had sent kamikaze terrorists over here to hijack our planes and slam them into skyscrapers and military installations, killing thousands of innocent civilians, the rubble in Vietnam would still be smouldering today.
The burning twin towers of the WTC will be forever etched in the minds of America. Like Pearl Harbor, the events of last Tuesday will be a rallying cry throughout the conflict and our resolve will never weaken. Victory will be final and absolute over this enemy. The vast majority of our countrymen will demand it.
This morning I have tried to string together threads that have great graphics on them.
