KISS THE NOTION OF SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE GOODBYE!!!
FR | 09/15/01 | ServesURight

The United States of America is a Christian nation again.

The Terrorist attacks have renewed America's faith in God. There will be no more ACLU/People for the American Way lawyers screaming about politicians and government officials openly praying anymore.

There will no more lawsuits against city officials and residents who display religious symbols during Christmas. No more outrage against high-school teams praying before games, no more Supreme Court decisions.

The atheists at the ACLU were probably defecating in their pants at the site of Congress and President attending the National Cathedral, and at the site of millions of Americans holding candlelight vigils and prayer groups across the country.

I dare the Left to make "seperation of church and state" an issue now.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but religion has always been a part of American politics until the liberals said otherwise

Back when religion was a major part of American politics; African Americans were enslaved, women could not vote and an entire race of people were exterminated. This sounds much like what is going on today in Afganistan! Perhaps you should crap open a history book and see what a miserble track record therocracis have over the last 2,000 years or so.

After seeing it carried to its extreme Tuesday....yes...I am.

Sorry to see that you can't see that evil acts of Satan, carried in a hidden veil of religion, are to blame. No religion that is worthy of God advocates murder.

They favor a theocracy -- not rule by the people but rule by Those Who Know the Will of God.

Your argument is so weak you must resort to inane hyperbole to make it.

Was the United States a theocracy when it was birthed in 1789? Neither do I seek a theocracy you crazed libertarian loon.

You mean back when religion was a major part of American politics, African Americans were _not_ enslaved and women _could_ vote? Quick -- post again and nail him on the facts.

Here here. One thing - I don't see how this war on terrorism won't escalate into a larger war with one or more Arab nations. It seems inevitable to me. Do we understand this as a nation?

More to the point, do we as a "Christian" nation understand that Islam ultimately clashes with Christianity? That Islam can't tolerate the idea that Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the light - no man can come to the Father except through me"? Are we prepared to die defending our country against an enemy that will claim they are "believers in Jesus", yet their belief in Christ is that he was only one of many prophets, and certainly not Lord?

I know many at FR do not want us discussing these things, but they are integral to this war. We have a choice to make as a nation, and it won't be easy. We can SAY we are defending our nation and our freedoms, but ultimately we'll have to defend our belief system as well, because the Muslims will act holy, look us in the eye and say "See, we really are brothers. We too worship the God of Abraham". And then they will bomb another building. I'm not being racist - I'm trying to point out that we have a fundamental difference in what constitutes "civilization". Our civilization in America is based on our Judeo-Christian heritage, whether you like that or not. To the degree that we understand this and seek His face as we move forward is the key, I believe, to our future "success" as a nation.

If people don't want to pray, then don't pray. Just don't tell those of us that choose to that we are somehow offending you with our prayers. We have the right to pray anywhere, anytime, and in front of anyone. I am offended by a lot of behavior that others engage in, prayer is a personal freedom that hurts no one.

Let's get a few things straight. I am not opposed to a person engaging in public prayer. I AM opposed to government sponsored prayer ..such as school prayer. The government has no business telling anyone who to pray to..or when to pray to them. Does anyone really need the president telling them when to pray?

If the owner of a business decides to call his employees to pray, I have no problem with it. Unless...people who do not answer the call to prayer are punished for their actions. An employee of a company has no RIGHT to call a public prayer meeting on company time.

The USA is a Christian, God fearing nation, or at least it was. And it is my prayer and I will do all in my power to see that it is once again.

I'm sorry... But not everyone in America is Christian... And not everyone in America believes in, or for that matter, fears God.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;....

Thanks to our Founding Fathers and the Bill of Rights, Americans have the right and freedom to practice whatever religion they want... Christian or not.

You stated that you would do everything in your power to see America become a Christian, God fearing nation once again.

What about those that aren't God fearing and Christian? Are you going to allow them to practice their religion? Are you going to kick them out of the country and alter the Bill of Rights to read:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion other than Christianity, or prohibiting the free exercise of Christianity....

I will add this: I do NOT agree with the people that bitch and scream every time someone prays at a football game, or has the ten commandments hanging on their wall at work. I think that THAT is unconstitutional because that would be, "prohibiting the free exercise thereof". However... to say that the USA is a God fearing Christian nation, would be incorrect. Americans are from a wide variety of religions. Obviously... the most being Christian. But that does not make us a Christian country.

Would someone please point out to me the official document that contains the phrase, "Separation of Church and State?" No, I didnt think so, because it doesnt exist.

The only mention, anywhere, is the 1st Amendment which only states that Congress will make no law establishing a particular religion as The Official Religion of the U.S.. The notion that a class Valedictorian mentioning God in his speach is somehow a violation of the mythical "separation" clause is ludicrous. The same goes for The President or any other Government official praying or worshipping to the beliefs of his/her specific religion.

And also for the Presidents plan to funnel money to religious organizations for charitable purposes. As long as he doesnt single out any religions for inclusion or exclusion, there is no conflict with the 1st Amendment.

With a constitutionally limited democracy, you have porn _and_ pornography (you seem to distinguish between them, I don't know how, but I thought I should mention both just to cover all the bases.) You also end up with sodomy and lots and lots of people openly saying things like "God does not exist" and nasty stuff like that. Since you're sick of all the trappings of democracy and would prefer an "American Taliban" if it provided you with a society free from porn _and_ pornography, free from people having oral and anal sex in the privacy of their own homes, free people saying "God does not exist" and really nasty stuff like that, you souldn't surprise me if you said "I'm no big believer in a constitutionally limited democracy".

Yo JA--your comment is among the stupidist things I have read in my life. Religion has always been an integral part of the American culture. As far as I can tell, there has been no governmental decision or act implemented that was influenced by a religion. To be sure, our laws (excepting the last 30 years or so)have been rooted in the Judeo/Christion tradition. This is called morality. This thing called separation of religion and state is not even included in our Constitution. This, like the right to abortion and such, were created by the left and then broadcast as reality with help from the leftist media. I can't think of a single president, excepting Clinton, who did not come from a religious background. And please, spare me the pap that Clinton was/is a Christian because he attended church or carried a bible. They were merely props. That Clinton was a Christian is about as true as saying his family situation was not disfunctional. You probably believe that Michael Jackson is well adjusted and normal, too. There has been an ongoing assault on religion in this country for at least thirty years. In that time, despite being specifically proscribed in the Constitution , it has been aided and abetted by the US Government. For example, the US Supreme Court decision banning prayer in public schools. To my knowledge there has never been an attempt by any religious group to take over the government as has happened in Iran, Afganistan and other places. Your ignorence of the Constitution, religion's place in our society, and knowlege of history is profound. Chuckyd

James Dobson was right. The terrorists brought us to our knees, but not in the way they had hoped.

Christianity is the predominant religion in America. It will thrive so long as our government doesn't force any religion down our throats. Unfortunately the so-called "separation of church and state" has been interpreted to promote state sanctioned athiesm, which does indeed constitute the abrigement of the free exercise of [religion]. Our public schhols consistently attack Chistian and Jewish students' Biblical world views as unscientific, extreemist and unrealistic. This is precisely what the First Amendment intended to protect against.

Frankly, if I have to pick between insulting my almighty God, or insulting the ACLU, I'll insult the ACLU. I'm allowed to do that. I'm an American.

So you want a Christian Jihad, ehy?

News for ya buds. This has ALWAYS been a "Christian" nation, in the sense that our core values, the ones that give us -- YOU and ME -- the liberty to talk about this freely, come directly from that tradition. If you're not particularly religious, if you're too puffed up with conceit, don't pray. But don't whine over those who pray for the dead, or who pray for those who're about to die for YOU, for the right you have to choose.

My suggestion to you is to quit whining about whether a loud mouth like Jerry Fallwell will force a law preventing you from masturbating over a photograph of a couple of lesbians kissing, and get ready to choose which side you're on. Because this assault is, and has been for the past century, on the entire Judeo-Christian value system that makes it possible for you to express your thoughts here on the basis of the Magna Carta, the very Christian Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence, and the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. It wasn't only the probition against greasy sex that christianity proposed, or to fill you with guilt for any carnal gravitation you might have toward that end, but the prohibition against decieving not just ourselves, but each other, as in "government officials lying to us", and PURELY ON THE BASIS OF MORAL GROUNDS ALONE.

For the first time in 5 decades, fat, middle-aged members of congress hung their heads in shame yesterday, mumbling over nearly forgotten hymns of honor, trust, and integrity, tears in their eyes, like six-year old who've just got caught lying for the first time. Which effectively, is precisely what happened to them.

Crap, even kids on MTV are praying, which is at best just a way of saying they're humbling themselves, many for the first time in their lives, at the feet of the culture that gives them life and liberty.

Because whether you like it or not, Juhad or Crusade, a holy war is what they asked for, and a holy war is inevitably what they got. It all depends on which side you're looking at if from.

There's no perfection in any of this, but a definite proclivity toward a rigid, life and death determination, about what constitutes good and evil. So I'd rethink my position on this if I were you, because from the look of it, this could end up door-to-door before it's over. And the way we openly talk about these core values will inevitably be viewed by our neighbors as the determinant of which side we're going to be on. And neither you nor I can weenie out of it. We HAVE to choose. So the question you will have to answer, not only here, but wherever you go in this country from now on, is which side is it?

TODAY's NEWS FROM ITALY

Italian newscasts have announced that HEAVY security has been placed around the Vatican.

Years ago, the Pope was shot by a phanatical Muslim.

On his last trip to the Philippines, a plot ti kill him was uncovered in time.

Should I list all the countries around the world where Christians are being persecuted by Muslims or can you read the news yourself?
