Crowd protests at Illinois mosque[MANY MORE INCIDENTS REPORTED!]

A perhaps predictable backlash hit several communities as federal officials said there was mounting evidence that radical Muslims planned and carried out the terror attacks in New York and Washington. Police turned back 300 marchers -- some waving American flags and shouting "USA! USA!" -- as they tried to march on a mosque in this southwest Chicago suburb late Wednesday.

Three demonstrators were arrested, said Bridgeview Police Chief Charles Chigas. There were no injuries and demonstrators were kept blocks from the closed Muslim worship place. "I'm proud to be American and I hate Arabs and I always have," said 19-year-old Colin Zaremba who marched with the group from Oak Lawn. Federal authorities said they had identified more than a dozen hijackers of Middle Eastern descent in Tuesday's attacks and gathered evidence linking them to Saudi-born terror mastermind Osama bin Laden and other terrorist networks. In all, perhaps 50 people were involved in the plot, government officials said.

In Chicago, a Molotov cocktail was tossed Wednesday at an Arab-American community center. No one was injured, and there was little damage. "The terrorists who committed these horrible acts would like nothing better than to see us tear at the fiber of our democracy and to trample on the rights of other Americans," Gov. George Ryan said.

In Huntington, N.Y., a 75-year-old man who was drunk tried to run over a Pakistani woman in the parking lot of a shopping mall, police said. The man, Adam Lang, then followed the woman into a store and threatened to kill her for "destroying my country."

In Gary, Ind., a man in a ski mask fired a high-powered assault rifle at the gas station where Hassan Awdah, a U.S. citizen born in Yemen, was working, the Gary Post Tribune reported. Gary Police are investigating it as a hate crime. "I lived in the Middle East for most of my life and have never seen anything like this," Awdah said.

In Australia, a school bus carrying Muslim children was stoned and vandals tried to set fire to a Lebanese church in apparent acts of retaliation for the terrorist attacks in the United States, officials said. Queensland state Islamic Council Chairman Sultan Deen said stones and bottles damaged the bus Wednesday in Brisbane. Nobody was injured.

Tamara Alfson, an American working at the Kuwait Embassy in Washington, D.C., spent Wednesday counseling frightened Kuwaiti students attending schools across the United States. "Some of them have already been harassed. People have been quite awful to them," said Alfson, an academic adviser to roughly 150 students.

In a show of patriotism, 45 people from Tampa, Fla.'s Islamic community registered with blood services to donate Wednesday and 30 members of the Muslim Students Association at the University of South Florida signed up. "You feel the pain twice: Once because of what has happened and once because of the looks you get," said Sami Al-Arian, an engineering teacher at the University of South Florida.

Abu Nahidian, director of the Manassas Mosque in Virginia, said his congregation has been the target of insults and hate messages left on the office answering machine. "We have some recordings in our tapes that say, 'We hate you so-and-so Muslims and we hope you die,"' Nahidian said.

A mosque in Lynnwood, Wash., was vandalized and no one showed up for afternoon prayers at the Islamic Center of Spokane. "We must not hurt or terrorize Americans of Arab descent or Islamic faith," Gov. Gary Locke said Wednesday during a memorial service at the Puyallup Fair. Issam Koussan told the Detroit News he bought large U.S. flags to fly in front of his home and outside his supermarket after men in a car pulled into his parking lot and yelled threats and racial slurs at his customers. "I just feel I needed to show my loyalty to this country," he said.

Man accused of hate crime against Arab at gas station

RONKONKOMA, N.Y. -- Suffolk County authorities have arrested a Selden man in connection with an alleged anti-Arab incident at a gas station.

Brian Harris, 29, has been charged with menacing as a hate crime for the incident Tuesday night.

Authorities said he entered the gas station, on Resole Avenue, and asked for a pack of cigarettes. When told the price, Harris allegedly replied with an anti-Arab threat and pointed a handgun at the victim, police said.

Harris fled but was arrested when his vehicle was stopped a short time later. Authorities recovered a black pellet gun, two shotguns, a rifle, and assorted ammunition.

Police Officer Randy Jared said the alleged threat related to the ethnicity of the victim, but he did not know if it was a reaction to the attacks on the World Trade towers.

Then there was the shooting in Irving Texas of an Islamic Center which housed the school for the children.
Conservatism has no place for intolerance based upon race, creed, color or national origin.

Novelist and National Rifle Association Life Member Tom Clancy expressed his support for Islam and the Muslim community on CNN Tuesday September 11, 2001.
A young American mother and wife who is a Muslim wrote:

Reaction to Tuesday's Attack

If anyone slays a person,
unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land,
it would be as if he slew all people.
And if anyone saves a life,
it would be as if he saved the life of all people.

Qur'an 5:32

The world's one billion, two hundred fifty million Muslims join their voices in condemnation of this cold-blooded, merciless act. Our hearts go out to the victims and their loved ones.

"No ethnic or religious community should be treated as suspect and collectively blamed," the Arab American Institute said in a statement (from yesterday's Manchester Guardian). Noble statements in the true American tradition, but that's not what they said at Durban when other peoples' skins were at risk. I too have friends who are Muslim and totally innocent of this or any other crime. But I find it hard to sympathize.

The key difference is this, my friend.

Here in America, as well as in the civilized world, we KEEP A LID on our religious nuts and whackos as best we can.

Anybody who watches CNN (that is, anybody in the world) knows this.

Our Fundamentalist Christians don't go to training camps, learn to fly planes, and do this sort of atrocity.

And if they did, it would be a heck of a lot more condemned and harder to do than it was for these stinking, lice-infested arabs.

So give me a break.

The countries, and the people in general, their cultures, their religious spokesmen, their political leaders, have, over the years, had ample opportunities to try to do SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to stop this systematic training and execution of terrorist acts.

BUT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR DECADES;

THAT'S WHY IT IS OK TO HATE THE WHOLE GROUP, NATION, AND RELIGIOUS ENTITY.

THEY ARE ALL INVOLVED AS ACCOMPLICES IN THAT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIGHT THIS INDUSTRY OF TERRORISM.

When are you and so many others going to process this?

This should come as no surprise. Americans are just as bloodthirsty, bigoted and depraved as anyone else on this planet.

In that they share a common humanity, yes. But American legal and social structures and traditions (slavery and Japanese relocation camps notwithstanding) are far, far superior to anything in place in the Muslim world in terms of protecting personal rights and human life.

The militant hotheads of Middle Eastern extraction in our cities and on our campuses who are cheering the deaths of Americans in these terrorist attacks don't know how fortunate they are to be living here. Would anyone like to guess what would happen to an American in Iran, Iraq, Syria, or Saudi Arabia who dared to publically applaud the Mossad and diss the host nation as "The Great Satan"?

"Americans are just as bloodthirsty, bigoted and depraved as anyone else on this planet."

May we never have to reflect that our country was once as beautiful as Lebanon--before the Islamic fundamentalists and the PLA decided to wipe out its Christian population and use it as a staging ground for their attacks against Israel.

May we never have to relect that Afghanistan used to be a beautiful country which sent the high school I attended a foreign exchange student who was bright, full of verve and just as kind as anyone in our school, but is now merely a desolate piece of sandpaper being fought over for decades such that they have only the loosest makings of a government. I wonder if they would Rather have Dan back. I wonder if we could arrange a loan.

Perhaps we need to look at these places as would a benevolent gardener. Plow the weeds under so they'll never grow again and start anew.

Bigotry such as yours is not welcome on this site.

So give me a break.

None granted.

Yeah, right. They live under ruthless dictatorships.

BUT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR DECADES;

Those who have tried have died.

THAT'S WHY IT IS OK TO HATE THE WHOLE GROUP, NATION, AND RELIGIOUS ENTITY.

Only in your tiny mind.

THEY ARE ALL INVOLVED AS ACCOMPLICES IN THAT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIGHT THIS INDUSTRY OF TERRORISM. When are you and so many others going to process this?

Those of us who can process will diffentiate between the culpable and the innocent. YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN THOSE IN THE MIDDLE EAST WHO HATE ALL AMERICANS.

Total bullshi*t. This is as false as Arafat being sorry and donating his spirochete-filled blood after being a professional terrorist for years.

Too little, too late, lady.

Shoulda been sorrier over the past decades when these guys were doing their own thing and you all watched, silently, and probably enjoyed it.

You deserve everything you are going to get.

but this isn't the time or the place. This is WAR.

Hatred has no place anywhere, anytime. Hatred clouds judgement. There is a reason for the saying "revenge is a dish best served cold." People are hot now. Hotheads do stupid things. It is the cold, calculating action that is the most effective, most targeted and most lethal.

Excuse me, but the entire Islamic and Arab community in the U.S.A. is riddled with anti-semites, anti-Americans, conspirators, co-conspirators and fifth columnists and terrorist scum hiding within and using their organizations for cover. Don't be naive. People lie. All Arabs and muslims first allegience is to Islam. They hate us, Israel and all Jews.

What about the freepers here who say America was asking for this attack and deserved it?

People should remember the backlash against militia groups after OKC. Everyone got painted with the same brush. It's not fair then and it's not fair now.

I disagree... 300 million hotheads can make an awfully messy scene... and the targeted celebrants are known...

You are a moron, aren't you. Listen shmuck, let me make it simple for you.

A. We live in a dangerous world.

B. If we thought the way you do, we would all be subjects of the crown, speaking Russian, Chinese, or German now. C. Yes, Clinton is a traitor, but his selling of US technology to our enemies, our open borders, and the negotiations with our enemies have hurt us more than any aid to Israel.

D. The Murderers who are the PLO, Saddam Insane, Airfart, Bin *sshole, are Islamic idealogues who have always hated everything the USA stands for. They hate the way we dress, the way we talk, and the fact that we have the ability to defend ourselves and hit back. We trained the Afganis. Funny how they didn't want to attack the US when we were giving them stinger missiles.

Hey, watch out! Better not help the English- It might make Hitler mad.

As opposed to a low-powered assault rifle?

Gary Police are investigating it as a hate crime.

As opposed to normal shootings where the guys with the "high powered" assault rifle really likes the guys he is shooting at?

"I lived in the Middle East for most of my life and have never seen anything like this," Awdah said

Where the hell did he live? The middle of the desert?

I'm confident that the American society in general will overwhelmingly reject and denounce such mindless actions.

The monsters that that did what they did to us two days ago hope for this type of thing to spread like wildfire. But, they vastly underestimate the power of a free society, and what kind of positive, and overwhelmingly powerful unity that exists within.

They obviously burned the book that discussed the waking of the sleeping giant.

They will now learn this lesson hard way.

And we will decide the time and place.

You're making an excellent case for me and for war against an entire people. Here's how:

In WW2, there were, I am sure, many German soldiers who went along because they did not have the will to resist, even though, ideologically, they disagreed with Naziism and knew that it was wrong. You can see old dudes like this most nights on the History Channel. Reasonable guys who went along.

In fact, as in this instance, many people were killed because they tried to resist the Nazis (or tyrannical fanatical muslims). Right?

And the only way we could defend ourselves, and, really, save the world for democracy and for God, was to declare war on the whole group, fight WW2, and too bad for the people who just went along. They were enemy too.

Spineless wimps or dumbasses who go along, were and are just as deadly, when armed and trained, as vigorous idealogues.

So really, the only way we can deal with this problem, if the citizens of the arab countries are unable to do anything about these tyrants and terrorists who rule them, is for us to go in and kill them all.

Which was, given the rules of engagement, and notwithstanding the atrocities perpetrated by both sides, EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED in WW2.

My brain may be smaller than yours, but in spite of your increased cerebral mass, you fail entirely to grasp that we are entering into a war now, with a multinational group of idealogues who are hell-bent on destroying us.

I am sorry that your education has left you so completely, so exquisitely unable to get even the barest whiff of a clue of what is about to happen.

And I regret that your upbringing has so erased in you any self-respect, self-defensive reflex, love of country, desire to defend your home, religion, town, state, family, friends, against these heathens.

I regret that you seem to be missing all this software and hardware. But you have been brainwashed by liberals, evidently, and you are not alone.

But what is about to happen is analogous to WW2, and there will be the usual misguided souls such as yourself who completely fail to grasp the magnitude and seriousness of this struggle and the real strength of our opponents.

The rest of us will process this and unite against this enemy.

I hope you start processing soon, but, I don't really care.

Because when EVERYBODY is on board, there too will you be, waving the flag, and cursing the arabs, just like everybody else.

This ought to be good.

In WW2, there were, I am sure, many German soldiers who went along because they did not have the will to resist, even though, ideologically, they disagreed with Naziism and knew that it was wrong. You can see old dudes like this most nights on the History Channel. Reasonable guys who went along.

Uh, hate to tell you this, but WWII was between govenments. In a way, it was a much simpler war to conduct. This is a war against a far more slippery enemy, who, BTW, wishes to also attack moderate arab states in the Gulf as well - so that shoots down your theory.

I have no desire to respond to the rest of your post. Bloodthirsty idiots with no grasp of the situation are nothing but a waste of time.
