The ex-girlfriend of embattled Congressman Gary Condit said Wednesday that a month before Chandra Levy disappeared, he repeatedly asked her to engage in a "sexual scenario" that could have been physically dangerous.
Flight attendant Anne Marie Smith declined go into detail, but told the Modesto Bee that Condit's suggestion was so wild she thought he was joking. When she realized he was serious, she nixed the risky sex plan out of concern for her physical safety.
"I thought to myself, 'Oh, my God, I could have been hurt,'" she told the paper.
When Smith heard about Levy's disappearance she worried again. "I can't tell you why, but I felt very frightened. ... I still feel that way. People tell me I don't need to be afraid, but I am."
Last month Smith's lawyer Jim Robinson told Fox News that the FBI and D.C. police had asked him not to publicly reveal certain details of his client's account. But he confirmed that the secret testimony had to do with information of a "sexual nature" that he said would "shock and outrage" Americans when it became public.

And what if Globe Magazine refused to pull the article? What if Globe Magazine decided to push the argument?
Regardless of what Condit and his lawyer intended to do with it, it's still a legal instrument.
If it were ever to be presented as a legal document for a court proceeding or criminal investigation, she could have changed it.
Condit knew it was false, why did he send it to her knowing this?
I will take her fear at face value. It would have been easy for her to make up a lie, say that Condit threatened her into a silence she felt frightened by...but she did not. If she is honest enough to describe her fear as something she cannot pinpoint, but a culmination of actions of Condit's part, either observed or perceived, I am MORE than willing to accept that she is afraid. Because in the long run, this is how real fear works. I don't suppose condit cut the head off a chicken in front of her and then grinned devilishly as he spoke of people crossing his set 'boundaries', but I bet the things she observed that we DON't know about-would make most people with common sense experience fear. Heck-I experience fear just looking at that nutcase of a congressman. And the same with bill clinton. A revulsion I cannot explain, but it is visceral and real-to me. I would NEVER discount AMS-because she has nothing to gain.
Perhaps Harvey knows
yah since Clinton people have discovered that being in the limelight is the safest place.
The Metro PD came out and said there is no truth to the speculation that Gary Condit asked his girlfriends not to carry ID when they were with him. That whole scenario was apparently a figment of someone's imagination.
This statement was not made by the DC Metropolitan Police, but rather the FBI. And they didn't `come out and say it'; it was a single anonymous source. You were correct, however, in stating that it was printed in the Washington Times. But please note that no other news agency has reported the same to my knowledge, and once again, the FBI has not officially said anything of this nature.
Okay, I was wrong, it's not a single source at the FBI, but the article attributes it to ``official sources'', not necessarily the DC Metro.

IMO, Gary told Ann Marie that his marriage was "in name only." How many men have told women that one, in order to gain a girl friend?
When Chandra came up missing, Ann Marie became afraid, being involved with him, and his name connected to Chandra. She came forward. It's not because she was "bragging about being with a married man," it was because things weren't adding up and she was becoming afraid for her life.
When Gary's lawyer sent her that affadavit to sign, she then, went to her own attorney.
Will you give her some credit for at least coming forward? If I remember correctly, one gal hit the hwy, and we haven't heard from her since! At least, AMS has the b**** to speak up!
kjam, are you a Condit "lap dog?"
And no one has come to your rescue? I mean the FReepers - in 100 posts this is the first response to this cry for help in post # 36? I just find it hard to believe.
