The affadavit was prepared for the tabloid that was going to publish an article about Anne Marie Smith and Gary Condit. It was not prepared for the police, FBI or a court case.

An affidavit is a legal instrument, whether it's used in a courtroom, by the police/FBI, or not. What do you think they were going to do with it, frame it and hang it in Condit's office?

I forget how old AMS is, but she's definitely mature and wise to the ways of the world. For her to stand up to pressure by her "boyfriend" to get involved in kinky and potentially dangerous sex would require a bit of a backbone. Now consider Chandra Levy. I don't expect we can really assume this, can we Go Dub Go? Did your mom ever threaten you with a look? Did something EVER happen to a family member that served as a warning to you to 'not go there'? Threats are interesting things, GO Dub Go. Lots of them don't have to be down in concrete written words, tapes or even 'my word against yours' terms to be VERY REAL. In fact, most aren't. Gary isn't THAT stupid. But he is close.
