The ex-girlfriend of embattled Congressman Gary Condit said Wednesday that a month before Chandra Levy disappeared, he repeatedly asked her to engage in a "sexual scenario" that could have been physically dangerous.
Flight attendant Anne Marie Smith declined go into detail, but told the Modesto Bee that Condit's suggestion was so wild she thought he was joking. When she realized he was serious, she nixed the risky sex plan out of concern for her physical safety.
"I thought to myself, 'Oh, my God, I could have been hurt,'" she told the paper.
When Smith heard about Levy's disappearance she worried again. "I can't tell you why, but I felt very frightened. ... I still feel that way. People tell me I don't need to be afraid, but I am."
Last month Smith's lawyer Jim Robinson told Fox News that the FBI and D.C. police had asked him not to publicly reveal certain details of his client's account. But he confirmed that the secret testimony had to do with information of a "sexual nature" that he said would "shock and outrage" Americans when it became public.

>>But the police have said they have no evidence of any crime by Gary Condit. <<
They have no PROOF. They have plenty of evidence.

AMS had the opportunity to sell her story. She didn't. Instead, she went to the authorities. She wants to testify in a court of law. One would think that, if it were $$$ she was interested in, she wouldn't want to divulge any of the details unless she got paid for doing so.

I'll bet you $2 she sells her story by some method. Either book, movie, Enquirer, or playboy layout. She will make a buck on the deal. Wanna bet?

I wasn't talkiong about the slowness of AMS - I was talking about the slowness of the justice system to take real investigative ACTION.

Let's not forget that AMS has worked for her salary, and has not been a pig of a "public servant" living high and dirty out of the public trough with special privileges and access and honor like the career politician Condit has his entire adult life.

"A month before Chandra Levy disappeared"? Well, that's pretty strange, since Anne Marie Smith has said that she hadn't even seen Gary Condit for three months when he supposedly called her in May and said he had "disappear for awhile".
Maybe he wanted phone sex, but how dangerous can that be? Anne Marie Smith is living on a different planet.
Please reread the post to see where you made an erroneous assumption.

Very slowly GO DUB GO ( do you work for Lowell and Geragos too ? or are you one of the Condit family ? I see a great influx of Condit apologists here on FR lately ; and that makes me very suspicious ; de-railers all)...... if the orders for secrecy and ananymity are the same for all the girls, then that goes a long way toward explaining the way Chandra left her apartment; ...... the kinkier the sex Condit is habitually engaging in, the more likely someone will be killed by accident or to shut them up; ....... the kinkier the sex games , the more likely the association with 'very bad people' ....... the attempts by Condit to 'persuade' which is spelled C-O-E-R-C-E , Anne Marie Smith and others, lends gravity to the situation and a parallel to the degree to which Chandra might have been 'persuaded' , again spelled C-O-E-R-C-E-D ( or even killed !) for breaking every single one of 'CONDIT'S RULES ' , which Condit himself described as " her boundaries". Profile of a murderer/pervert , modus operandi of a murderer/pervert , temperament of a murderer/pervert , reactions of a murderer/pervert and motivation of a murderer/pervert are PRECISELY the things the Anne Marie Smith connection brings to light.

ValerieUSA I believe there are a bunch of paid disrupters here..... I'm with you on the Condit thing and think folks are being VERY narrow-minded or are outright propagandizing in trying to diminish Anne Marie Smith.... stick to your guns !!

Once her story is heard by the authorities why shouldn't she sell it?
My point was that she could have done this first and gotten some big bucks for it. She didn't. She went to the authorities.

She shouldn't sell the story because she should have some resemblence of shame. Because fundamentally I believe that people shouldn't make a profit out of an adulterous relationship. But the question is why wouldn't she sell it? She obviously has no belief that what she did was wrong in any way.

Oh, BTW, AMS's lawyer is not trying to bring a civil suit against Condit now, where AMS could ask for damages. It's a criminal suit they're after.
AMS may well decide to go after Condit in a civil suit also, but one would think if it was $$$ she was after a civil suit would have been her first priority.

There was some black kid who tried to do the same stunt in a tree. He hung himself. I think the good Rev. Jackson was at the start of one of his campains to scream racist lynching when it came out the kid was only trying to milk his mule.

Her morals weren't the only morals concerned. She did have a partmer in all of this, who just happens to be a lawmaker. Her story would shine the spotlight on his lack of morals too, which IMO is not a bad thing.
