KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) -- Claiming their civil rights were violated by a policeman warning of violence over shutting off water to farmers, two environmentalists filed claims Tuesday against the city for $100,000 each.

Because Lt. Jack Redfied was in uniform and backed by other police officers when he mentioned Andy Kerr and Wendell Wood by name, it appeared he had the backing of the city when he made the July 25 speech, attorney Gary K. Kahn wrote in a letter to the city.

I, for one, am damn tired of having my civil rights abridged and trampled regarding equal access of public lands. I am a senior citizen, and a disabled person. Because I am not a young, fit, healthy, Sierra Club, back packing, freeze dried chomping, designer bottled water drinking, hiker type person , I am discriminated against, and kept out of wilderness areas.

You're absolutely right. See how well these people play the game? Smug and full of wheat grass soup, one warning that they might endanger lives, and they file a law suit based on CIVIL RIGHTS!

Meanwhile, Klamath farmers, encouraged to play by the rules for their entire lives, wait almost patiently as they draw near bankruptcy and their only hope is largely a class action suit that won't even begin for ten more months!

Wake up America, "civil rights" is how our government is stealing our Constitutional protection of our God given Rights.Every time someone wins one of these cases, we all lose a little more FREEDOM. If we continue to allow civil rights to be used instead of our Constitution, it will simply cease to exist.

It would be the logical fallacy of arguing from the particular to the universal to declare that all LEOs are "JBTs," whatever that acronym means. The ability to isolate on only those LEOs whose conduct is either illegal, or imprudent (that is my sole complaint on the Beck matter)and not to condemn them all is the product of being able to make distinctions. Such discussions would get us further if people would stop to do that.

Maybe it's time we start to wise up and begin using some of their own tactics.

If I were running the world I'd find me a few hot shot lawyers and figure out a few lawsuits to file against the environmentalists.

You'd just have to be sure it's some civil rights type claim so the government pays for it and they have to hire lawyers to defend themselves!

This sounds like a great plan to counter Klintoon's "Wilderness Lite" roadless initiative. The enviro-wackos in the Mojave desert have got a fenced tortoise preserve on one side of our old campground, and a condor preserve on the other.

What good does it do fencing off the public land? In all my years of off roading out there, I haven't run over one tortoise or condor. What does really screw things up is the ecco-nazzis in their porsche's. Those things just ain't made for offroading. They're always getting stuck trying drive right up to the condors rock formation during nesting season. We have enough sense to stay away and let the condors do their thing. Eco-nuts are idiots.

So, Wood and Kerr are engaged in a conspiracy to deprive residents of Klamath of their civil rights. Did anyone think to sue these two guys for any one of a variety of things?

Kerr and Wood are likely backed by tax exempt foundations with money to burn. If they lose a lawsuit, no big deal. However, the farmers have to poney up the court costs on their own.

If you can manage to rope in at least one federal government employee in the conspiracy charge, and make it stick, the federales have to pay all your lawyer's fees as well as court costs.

It seems to me that it is not beyond belief that there has been a criminal conspiracy involving at least one government employee and several representatives or officers of several environmental groups. Could be some big bucks in it for a sharp lawyer. It's just like the tobacco suit.
