Harmeet Dhillon resigned Thursday as the Department of Justice's assistant attorney general for civil rights, sources told Fox News.
Dhillon was nominated by President Donald Trump in December 2024, before being sworn in during April 2025 after being confirmed by the Senate. She is leaving after Trump's Republican Party lost the House and Senate in this week's midterm elections.
In the leadup to the midterms, Dhillon defended the Trump administration's investigation into noncitizen voters.
"There are people who feel that the point is to sow distrust about the whole election system. There are very few people who are noncitizens who end up voting — very, very few. And so, therefore, what's the purpose?" Lesley Stahl, host of CBS' "60 Minutes," had asked Dhillon.
Dhillon responded, "The point is actually the opposite of what you were saying. It's not to sow distrust. The distrust is there. And so, all of these kinds of crimes are being prosecuted now for the first time really, in volume. And look, even the Biden administration prosecuted 13 people for noncitizen voting."

This is big. WTF?
The exodus begins.
Why stick around to be prosecuted?
I predict that the DOJ now lays off from Comey and such. As an attempt to appease democrats plans to conduct massive corrupt law-fare against Trump and republicans. Sadly, that is the way the world works.
Damn. Just damn.
You think they won’t prosecute her even if she resigns???
I’m usually happy when females resign, but I’m gonna miss this one.
Welcome back, Ilhan Omar.
That is exactly what will happen. And then the Republicans will learn (again) that you cannot ever appease Democrats. They only see that stuff as a sign of weakness and vulnerability.
This is expected. They were tasked with finding a lot more than roughly 200 illegals trying to vote. I could probably find you half that in my area of Chicago without even trying very hard.
unreal the amount of fair weather friends.
US Attorney Bill Essayli out in California doing the Lord's work ... I will be very sad if he goes away.
This is what happens when you fail to counter what the left did to the right during the Biden years. And since the dems paid no price for their Biden era lawfare, they are coming back at the right time with that X10. Harmeet is simply reading the room. Trump failed so so bad. He did some good things but he just missed on so many other dire situations that needed to be addressed.
One of her jobs overseeing the DOJ's Civil Rights Division was to enforce election integrety. She was responsible for auditing state voter roles and to coordinate federal election monitoring.
She may have initiated her exodus or she may have been told to leave.
How did she do?
So sad. I really like her.
This was my main complaint about trump. We needed him to be that monster that the left complained about non stop. He wasnt even 1/10th as bad as they made him out to be. We needed him to be way worse than they portrayed him.
If this is true, then it would be good news that she left.
She did not stop the fraud, but she probably did more than anyone else could have with no congressional support.
She probably bills 5X more at her law firm than she currently gets paid at the Department of Justice.
