The Justice Department is seeking to block Alaska’s election certification if Sen. Dan Sullivan narrowly loses, adding legal uncertainty to a race that could shape Senate control after Tuesday’s vote...

The Justice Department filed a revised lawsuit on Thursday seeking to block certification of Alaska's election results if Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan loses narrowly, citing a New York Times report that Democratic operatives recruited a candidate with the same first and last names.

The suit raises the prospect of a messy fight over a contest that could determine Senate control in next Tuesday's midterm elections...

How is this a Federal issue? If Congress has legislated rules under the "time, manner, and place" clause of Article I §4, then let me know that I am wrong.

If they haven't - how Alaska appoints its Senators is an exclusive State matter that does not belong in Federal court

The plan was hatched by people in different states. The crime, Conspiracy to Defraud was conducted by people in different states, making it a Federal Crime.

The people constantly haranguing about “election integrity”...Democracy dies in seasonal arctic darkness.

They need to hold anew election.
Period.
What the Islamocommies did in Alaska is election FRAUD hatched by Party, not just Alaskans.
Either way, it’s a fraudulent election.
Ranked choice voting which they are doing in Alaska and Portland Oregon is also fraudulent. If you have ranked choice voting, only mark ONE PERSON.

So if the other Dan Sullivan narrowly loses to the other Dan Sullivan the other Dan Sullivan has recourse too, right?

“How is this a Federal issue?”

I would call it an ignorance issue. If people are that ignorant to vote for the other Dan Sullivan other than the other Dan Sullivan they really wanted to vote for, how does it become Federal when it is due to their ignorance?

“Democratic operatives recruited a candidate with the same first and last names.”

That has to be the all-time dirtiest of dirty tricks.

A conspiracy to affect a federal senate election easily falls under felony guidelines.

Even if every claim is true, it’s not a federal law issue. It’s probably not a state law issue either, since finding a political candidate with the name similar to your opponent and supporting that little insurgency is long baked in to our wild west campaign financing systems.

It’s funny to read the outrage over a real voter, who made no representations that he is the incumbent Senator, who is a blue collar Alaska citizen and might get a few thousand votes and compare it to the “richest man in the world” who’s now $400,000,000 deep in the Republican campaigns. Hmmm, what do you think he’s hoping to get for his $400,000,000?

Where’s the fraud? Specifically, since that’s what the law requires, what criminal act was attempted or completed?

It’s clearly a “dirty trick,” but they have been common in our political sphere.

Just add both Dans’ votes together and give all of them to the real Dan.

Self preservation for one, as the Democrats are threatening to steal his businesses and his money. But we know you’re just another DU troll here and okay with that.

It's not.

The Alaska Supreme Court ruled that the challenging Dan Sullivan has the right to appear on the ballot against the incumbent Dan Sullivan. The FedGov is not seeking to criminally prosecute anyone. If they have the makings of a criminal case, they can file it in court. They are seeking to prevent Alaska certifying the results of the election if, and only if, it favors the Democrat. The ballot identifies Dan S. Sullivan as the Incumbent, distinguishing him from Dan J. Sullivan, one of his challengers.

Or...all of the votes the fake Dan Sullivan (virtual unknown, no campaigning, not into politics) receives should transfer to the authentic Dan Sullivan.

Unless outsiders from other states were involved, then it can become an interstate conspiracy which then becomes a federal crime.
