MAGA crowns its dream 2028 ticket as Marco Rubio crushes Ron DeSantis in race to be JD Vance's running mate

Republicans and Republican-leaning independents want Marco Rubio, not Ron DeSantis, as JD Vance's 2028 running mate, a new exclusive Daily Mail/YouGov poll reveals.

The Secretary of State leads the field with 33 percent, a crushing 20 points ahead of the Florida governor, who takes just 13 percent.

Among self-described MAGA supporters, Rubio's lead is even bigger: 45 percent want him on the ticket. Among those who are registered and say they will definitely vote, he takes 41 percent.

But Rubio is far from a lock. Just as many respondents, 34 percent, said they weren't sure who Vance should pick.

The rest of the field barely registered. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley drew five percent, while South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, former Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and Ohio gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy tied on three percent each.

Asked who they expect Vance to actually choose, all Americans surveyed again put Rubio first on 22 percent, with DeSantis a distant second on eight percent.

More than half, 55 percent, were unsure.

Vance has not yet announced a 2028 bid.

DeSantis was once hailed as Donald Trump's natural heir, before his own 2024 White House run collapsed. His second term as governor ends in January, leaving him free to plot his next move.

It's unclear if he'd mount a challenge to Vance.

I wouldn’t be mad about any of these men being president. Whomever comes out strongest against illegal immigration will get my vote

Which of them speaks the best Spanish?

In 2016, I thought the nomination would come down to an intra-Tea Party battle between Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. Both, by the way, were at least fiscal conservatives, which Trump never was.

Leave the other yin-yangs out of it. I recall that Cruz was fluent in Spanish. Rubio could kinda limp through it.

If we’re going to pick a Florida Republican as VP, someone who can sling the lingo would be invaluable. Either would probably mop the floor with whomever the dems put up.

The job isn’t worth a warm bucket of spit. Heard it somewhere. An older experienced geezer with no higher aspirations would work best. It did for Cheney. Besides if a guy or gal spends 8 years as second fiddle what does it say about his/her patience and ambition? In the case of a her would voters want to watch her get old. Made me feel sorry for Bill Clinton.

Rubio has already said he’s not running.

True, and I suspect he's not interested in VP, So Vance/DeSantis may happen afterall.

There is the next 16 year plan. 8 years (two terms) for Vance and 8 years (two terms) for Rubio.
Imminent head implosion (Scanners) by Dems expected.

We sure have a deep bench
And that’s why we need primaries. The problem as I see it is to sort through the propaganda for the truth. I hate it when a simpler phrase gets twisted. We need to be more nimble to catch those who will corrupt this movement.
They did it to the Yea party and I see maga next . Or so they think. We don’t stick much with tags though. We’re all American bound by US Constitution defending Western civilization.

Agreed. Rubio is clearly the more experienced. Vance has been “groomed” and had about the same experience as Dan Quayle before he was picked. Pretty blue eyes aren’t gonna save the US at this point. It is going to take cold stone decisions that wipe out entire organizations within government. Rubio has and can do that successfully. Vance will whimp out. Plus he’ll do the bidding of the Indian H1B visa corporate crooks thanks to family relations.
