Idaho voters will be able to cast a vote for one of six guns on Election Day, and the votes will serve an “advisory” role to guide the legislature in choosing the official gun of Idaho.
Idaho News 6 reported:
The six options include Western-style weapons that gained fame during pioneer days, such as the 1873 Single Action Army Revolver Colt .45, the Winchester Model 1894 (.30-30), and the Winchester Model 1873, known as the “Gun That Won the West.” The list also includes weapons with military heritage, like the M1 Garand and the Colt Model 1911 .45. The sixth option is the Remington 700 Bolt Action 30-06.

Every state should have a state firearm. Can you imagine what so the blue states would select? At least one would pick something like a super soaker or Nerf gun.

Excellent choices and I have no idea which gun might lead in the polls.
My tentative inclination is to vote for the Colt 1911 as its use spans several wars over more than a century. It's still a popular gun today.

The official gun of NJ and CA can be the single-shot cap pistol.

Tennessee might choose a Beretta or a Barrett. I’m okay with either one.

Gunslingers used the Colt 1851 Navy for nearly 25 years before the Colt Single Action Army 45, and kept using it because it was cheaper than the Army 45.
