What people did in their own private lives and doesn’t hurt others has long been a metric of acceptance in civil society.
Sure, reports of people engaging in activities ranging from homosexuality to S&M were damaging to people once knowledge became public, often via smear campaigns or people stepping forward, but most rumors, even those based in truth, didn’t move the needle much.
And if someone was stupid enough to engage in those things and allow pictures or keep pictures of it that made it into public, it was no longer a “private” affair.
Today is quite different. Now, they want to engage in those things and push them forcefully into the lives of other people. They want to normalize their own deviant behavior. They want to present it to children of all ages as a normal variant and lifestyle. They even want to push pedophilia as a normal thing, even calling them “minor-attracted”.
I have known and worked with many homosexual people in my life, and were they to keep their sexual peccadilloes to themselves, I didn’t care. It didn’t change my personal or professional opinion of them, as I viewed it as their own private affair, and if they didn’t affect me, my loved ones, or society in general, I didn’t much care.
And now that I have embraced Christ, I can pray for them, but in the end, it is between them and God. But if they don’t repent of their sin and embrace Christ, I won’t accept them as Christian, even if I can accept them as a person and pray for them.
But that circumspect and private attitude regarding “their own business” is not what we see today. They are pushing it on children and militantly judging the rest of us for not wholly embracing their “choices” in life. They want to be a protected class.
And if someone is stupid enough to engage openly in this activity and ally themselves with people or movements (like the Left and the Democrat Party in general) whose goal it is to normalize this behavior and push it aggressively on society in general and children in particular, then I have nothing but contempt for them.

It’s a stupid reader vanity article written by someone who doesn’t know their history. Gay sex behavior only kills a Republican’s chance of holding office. Decades ago Barney Frank survived his male hooker boyfriend turning tricks out of Frank’s home.
In the last few years, I have turned to Christ.
I am accepting him as my savior, asking forgiveness for what I have done in the past, and trying not to sin now and in the future.
And my choice of how I get to Christ and worship Christ rules out any “rainbow church” that has no mention of God, Christ, or even a symbol like a cross on the sign in front of their church, but has plenty of rainbow references and rainbow flags hanging from that same sign with assurances that “all are welcome”.
All may indeed be invited in to pursue salvation, but I have a hard time understanding that they be accepted as Christians, because I don’t believe they are. In my nascent understanding of Christianity, there are two things-belief in Christ and repentance of sin.
We don’t have to hate them, and can pray for them. But that is a long way from accepting them as Christians if they don’t stop sinning and ask for forgiveness from God.
And saying God is A-OK with homosexuality and transgenderism (openly saying, or even implying God makes mistakes) doesn’t sound like asking for forgiveness. It sounds like re-writing the word of God to suit the personal needs of human beings.
Your boundaries for “East Coast Island” are pretty expansive and include big swaths of the most conservative places in the country.
Not so many years ago, I would have said your map is the perspective of someone living in a survivalist bunker in Idaho.
But the way the desert and mountain West are getting overrun by Cali refugees, I think the Midwest and Plains states and Southern Appalachia — outside of Chicago and the other urban blue dots — will be the last refugees.
