Hamas is generating as much as $5 million a day from goods entering Gaza while rebuilding tunnels, accumulating weapons, and planning possible attacks on Israeli troops, including attempts to kidnap soldiers, according to separate Israeli television reports this week citing security officials.
Neomi Neumann, a former head of research at Israel’s Shin Bet security agency, told the Kan public broadcaster on Thursday that Hamas continues to exercise effective control over Gaza’s population through a decentralized system of taxation, aid distribution, and covert enforcement.
Neumann, now an adjunct fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, estimated that Hamas earns between $2 million and $5 million daily by imposing heavy taxes on goods entering the enclave and exploiting humanitarian assistance.
“Everything that enters the Strip becomes a source of income for Hamas,” Neumann said in the interview. “It confiscates some of the humanitarian aid and sells the goods at high prices on the black market.”
Hamas also uses its control over supplies to determine which residents receive goods and services, creating economic dependence on the Palestinian terrorist group, she said. It charges residents for services and remains the principal source of employment in Gaza, according to Neumann.
A separate report by Channel 12 cited Israeli and Palestinian sources describing preparations for renewed fighting, including potential attacks on Israeli military bases inside Gaza and attempts to abuct soldiers.

So the war is not over.
Israel had Hamas trapped and was ready to strike the final blow, and then Trump stopped it.
Stopping Israel and tapping the brakes in Iran were massive mistakes and it could prove to have devastating fallout.

It is amazing that most of the Arab world hates Israel so much that they do not see the absurdity of Hamas spending millions of USD building tunnels when that same money could have been used to improve the lives and livelihoods of Palestinians in Gaza. The amount of money spent on terrorism could have made Gaza a paradise. Instead of tunnels full of home-made missiles and bombs, it could have had proper industry.
The hate for Israel, though, is so great that they cannot see that.
I read that Hamas has over 300 miles of tunnels and only 32 miles have been destroyed. Another issue with Gaza is a reported average IQ rate of just under 70. If true, they are not going to be able to build an advanced society..
They aren’t interested in building an advanced society. All they live for and care about is murdering Jews and destroying Israel.
It never will be over until all of them are dead.

Muslim fighters could care less about other muslim citizens - they are just fodder to be used, expended in anti-Israeli propaganda, and otherwise killed.
Improving their lot means finding more places in their homes to hide weapons and ammo.
