With a little more than three weeks to go until the Oct. 19 referendum, a new poll done for CBC News suggests support for separation has softened since spring.
Janet Brown Opinion Research, in a random survey of 1,200 Albertans between Sept. 8 and 21, asked respondents the same question they’ll face on referendum day: “Should Alberta remain a province of Canada, or should the government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?”
Twenty-three per cent of respondents said they’d vote to start the legal process to hold a binding referendum, while 72 per cent said they’d vote to remain in Canada. Four per cent said they were unsure.

Embrace the suck.
Suckers, Carney is offering a pipeline as a bribe to tilt the vote. It is a pipeline that will not be built. Chumps, They deserve the misery all of it.
This probably seemed like a better idea before the USA became an invasion threat on their border.
Quebec separatism is more emotional. That happens and Canada is ours-not that we want it.
Alberta wanting to leave has always been way overstated
Translation: Alberta separatism more popular than ever.
…You can always count on the media to at least cloud the issue in a political story. Hillary Clinton SuPpOsEdLy had a “95% chance” of winning the 2016 Presidential Election on the eve of it.
CBC = PBS = CNN = DNC
If they do separate, the rest of Canada will fall.
The Canadians will prove once more how stupid they really are.
Way way way overstated. It was a small minority of an already minority segment calling for it when it started. It was never going to happen.
They are on the border and they are not worried.
It was always more of a protest against bad Canadian politics, rather than real separation
Bad politics that everyone in Canada should have protested against, but don’t ... like confiscatory tax rates, official bilingualism [that effectively discriminates], out-of-control immigration that swamps provinces, enviros that stop big projects, natives that try to take over the country, etc.
All issues that EVERYONE in Canada could unite on, but won’t ...
You want a REAL separation threat?
Look to Quebec ... the PQ Party’s sole purpose for being is to get Quebec to separate
AND QUEBEC VOTES TODAY, *AND* that PQ is on track to win a majority!
Alberta was never the real threat to Canada ... Quebec is!!
If Alberta wants to leave Canada, fine, but if they want to stay with Canada, fine. I’m not sure if I would want them because, they might not be solidly red...most likely RINO...
Like England, being on the right in Canada is being in the center here. Because of this they are doomed to forever be the worlds underachiever
