A 25-year-old Austin man returned to the United States from Mexico over the weekend after being deported despite telling federal immigration officials he was a U.S. citizen, according to his attorneys.
Brian José Morales García was deported in April after a traffic stop in Fredericksburg. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Gillespie County sheriff's deputies who pulled over his work vehicle did not believe him when he said he was a U.S. citizen and contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Federal immigration officials disputed that Morales García was a U.S. citizen and accused him of entering the country illegally, according to Morales García's attorneys.
After Morales García's legal team - Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch, Dicky Grigg and Chad Dunn - filed a challenge to his deportation and provided additional documentation confirming his U.S. citizenship, the Justice Department allowed him to return to the United States while the lawsuit proceeds.

Lincoln-Goldfinch said the legal team provided hospital records, witness statements, a handwriting expert's analysis, baptismal records and statements from family members who said Morales García was born in the U.S. The additional evidence "tipped the scales" for Justice Department attorneys who agreed to allow Morales García to return, she said.
The Statesman reviewed copies of Morales García's Colorado birth certificate, hospital records and a baptismal record from a few months after his birth, all of which were provided by Morales García and his attorneys. The Statesman independently corroborated the existence of the birth certificate and baptismal record. The records show that Morales García was born in Colorado. His attorneys said he grew up in Mexico but was living and working in Texas when he was detained and deported.

How were they able to deport this person so fast who was apparently actually a US Citizen but we have the media, activists, judges, etc. keeping violent criminals, rapists, traffickers, etc. in here for months / years blocking them from being removed from our country- rallying to these sorts as “victims”?

As usual, the lieberal media is looking for a sob story to denigrate deportation efforts in this country. They never run stories about American citizens who have been harmed by illegals.

The Austin American statesman is one of the most liberal rags in the country so anything they say in regard to illegals has got to be taken with less than a grain of salt.

You have any idea how many people drive without a valid license let alone a copy on them? That’s a ticket. Not deportation.
Another indicator there is something not entirely clear about this case - why would the Justice department continue a case when there is clear and convincing evidence that he is a US citizen.
SCOTUS just ruled that being born in the US is pretty much all you need to be a citizen. Was this guy the kid of an ambassador or other diplomat?
The government should verify his records are accurate and pay his legal fees. Perhaps they could toss a passport his way.
They are deporting hundreds of thousands of people. We are bound to screw up. Admit it, fix it, make it right, and move on. These cases are a minuscule part of the process.

Sorry, but... there is more to this “story” than is being presented here. ICE doesn’t just “refuse to listen”. The person in question either had valid ID or he didn’t. He obviously didn’t. This is just more anti-ICE and by proxy, anti-Trump BULLCRAP.
