Iran weighs Hormuz plan banning Israeli and US ships, imposing cargo fines

Preliminary proposal reported by Iran’s Tasnim agency would also block Israel-linked cargo, demand compensation from ‘hostile states’ and fine violators up to 20% of cargo value; separate Iranian report says Tehran and Oman are discussing service fees and a jointly managed shipping corridor

Iran’s parliamentary National Security Committee is reviewing a preliminary “strategic plan for managing the Strait of Hormuz” that would bar Israeli and American vessels from the critical waterway, according to a report Thursday by Iran’s Tasnim news agency.

The reported proposal would also prohibit the passage of Israeli-linked military and civilian cargo, demand compensation from countries deemed responsible for harming Iran and impose heavy fines on vessels that violate the proposed restrictions.

The plan has not been finalized, and it remains separate from the emerging negotiations between Iran and Oman over reopening and managing traffic through the strait.

Ali Salimi, a member of the Iranian parliament’s leadership, told Tasnim that the National Security Committee was examining the initial language of the plan.

According to the Iranian report, it contains six central provisions: Vessels belonging to the United States, Israel and other countries designated as hostile would be barred from passing through the strait Military or civilian cargo linked to Israel would be prohibited

Ships or cargo involved in operations against the Iran-led “axis of resistance” would also be denied passage

Countries and private entities deemed to have caused damage to Iran would not receive authorization to sail through the Strait of Hormuz or Persian Gulf until compensation was paid

Violators could face fines reaching 20% of the value of their cargo

*** Iran’s government would assume responsibilities including navigation guidance, oversight of maritime traffic and protection of security and the environment in cooperation with the country’s armed forces

Yeah that’s NOT gonna happen..first of all, Israel does NOT get their oil through the Strait, otherwise you would hear them screaming about high gas prices, notice they dont..and secondly, Iran can take their demands and go F themselves, just finish them off already

"Try it a-holes and see what happens"

I appreciate your sentiment, but I also remember the childhood tale of the boy who cried wolf.

Your irrational and disconnected Trump derangement syndrome are tiresome but,
after all these years, Trump is still the president and you’re just a scrot.

You know how when you watch a TV episode or movie you already saw and know the lines coming up?

When they said the Iranians were going to take charge of the Strait and charge tolls it was so obvious the next story would include “and they won’t allow Israelis or ships from places that side with the US or Israel.”

I wish the punchline will be “and Trump said “Hegseth, cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.” “Yes, sir.”

So long as Iran thinks it can dictate conditions, we have not "explained" the situation to them well enough.

No way will we agree to those terms. Sounds more like an Iranian wish list.

Seems like we have some sort of failure to communicate here. Maybe turn the volume up to 11.

That is my go to site for breaking Strait of Hormuz news. I also use this site which monitors shipping incidents. Apparently, Somali pirates are still active: https://www.ukmto.org/

Is all this feckless, hesitancy because we’re running low on ammunition? This has not been a victory so far for Trump. Would like to us bomb the shit out of them and get the hell out.

Iran is in control. Not to worry, we have won this war:

Trump said at a Cabinet meeting March 26: "They're defeated, they can't make a comeback."

Trump claimed on March 24 that the war was already over and that Iran would go through a regime change. "We've won this war. This war has been won,"

President Trump told Axios on March 11 that the war with Iran will end "soon" because there is "practically nothing left to target." He said the war will end "any time I want it to end."

Again, on March 11 Trump told a crowd: "You never like to say too early you won. We won. In the first hour it was over."

Trump said on March 9 that the Iran war will be over "very soon" and that Iran is "all gone. We could call it a tremendous success right now."
