It's an old saying: when someone tells you who they are, believe them. Nothing could be truer than when talking about the modern-day Democratic Party.
After using minorities for decades for their votes, then ignoring them once they get elected, their lurch towards Democratic Socialism/communism has another traditionally reliable Democrat voting bloc thinking twice. The Jewish community, more specifically in Detroit, does not like what they are seeing.
The candidacy of Abdul El-Sayed for the Michigan Senate is starting to make several Detroit-area Jewish Democratic donors nervous.
So much so that they have come up with a contingency plan should El-Sayed win the August 4 Democratic primary. Fundraisers are being planned for presumptive Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. Several prominent Jewish donors are planning the fundraisers, and others plan to help him outright should El-Sayed beat his primary opponent, Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11)."

What is strange is foreign policy seems to be the primary driver behind this donor backlash, though his domestic policy views also play a role as well.
El-Sayed is arguing that billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars should be withheld from foreign militaries and redirected internally, ironically mirroring the stance taken by several on the political right; Strange times indeed.
Opponents are criticizing his liberal leanings as an attack on the free market system, yet foreign policy may indeed be the specific thing which is causing some Denocrats to potentially cross party lines.
Mamdani won in New York and I wouldn’t be surprised to see if El-Sayed wins now.
Even more puzzling would be opposition to his economic policies, as I imagine he might try to recast himself as a FDR on steroids, which opposition to among Demicrats probably wouldn’t work among Democrats.
Democrats would probably be better off challenging him on social issues, but the problem with that avenue is El-Sayed holds a stongly progressive, pro-LGBTQ+ platform, and the Democrats opposed to him are not opposed to his positions on LGBTQ+ and gay rights.
Forgot to say that the part from “El-Sayed holds...” to “...his position on LGBTQ+ and gay rights” was from Google AI.

While that may be true that is merely anecdotal, and secondly you do not speak for all in NYC even though you lived there a long time nor can extrapolate from that for Michigan one way or another. Thus your conclusion “Michigan is not NYC” has no logical foundation, whereas the current mood among Democrats in polling favors El-Sayed as it did Mamdani in NYC, the ongoing current mood among Democrats, unless you are a Democrat.

He not wanting any military assistance to go to anyone overseas should play no part on people voting or not voting for him, IMHO, as the election should only be about his vision domestically as he, his opponent, and a Republican running should be running on domestic issues.
If soneone wants him to.focus on Egypt, Israel, Jordan, whomever, then move to onr of those countries. If a Republican has no chance of winning against either, this election is a waste of time for Repubs to care one way or the other about, IMHO.
