MLB now in crosshairs of several top prosecutors as SF Giants Pride Night scandal explodes across US

Top prosecutors across the US are taking action against Major League Baseball for issuing warnings San Francisco Giants players for displaying Bible verses on their hats during a Pride Night game.

After the Department of Justice announced it had opened a probe into the league for its actions, several state attorneys general said they planned to investigate MLB’s conduct.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced on Saturday morning that he sent an investigative subpoena to the league “to determine how their selective enforcement of uniform rules may discriminate against Christians.”

It comes after Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway also threatened to open an investigation.

“By forcing players to promote political and religious beliefs that they disagree with on pain of discipline, MLB is betraying a core tenet of American law and civic culture,” Hanaway said.

On Thursday, DOJ Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon announced that her office had referred the matter to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for investigation.

“They don’t mind when players are taking a knee and exhibiting all kinds of stuff on the job, but when people are pushing back on being forced to promote a sexual practice that is against their religion, they’re threatening them,” Dhillon told The California Post.

The controversy erupted after Giants pitchers Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker wrote “Gen 9:12-16” on their rainbow-themed Pride Night caps during a game last week against the Chicago Cubs. The Bible passage references God’s covenant with Noah and describes the rainbow as a sign of that promise.

After an MLB spokesman confirmed the players had received a uniform warning, the league later clarified that the warning was “not disciplinary” and “had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the message.”

The Texas Rangers are the only MLB team that does not have a "Pride Night".

All SF fans need to make sure they have a SF hat with a normal logo on it and a Bible verse written on it in Silver Sharpie to wear to the games.

Genesis 9:12-16 is a well-known biblical passage in which God establishes a rainbow as the permanent sign of His covenant with Noah and all living creatures. Through these verses, God promises never to destroy the earth with a flood again, positioning the rainbow as a visual reminder of this everlasting promise.

A lot of parents take their young kids to the ball games. I don’t think that MLB should be pimping homosexuality to young kids. MLB is abusing the kids more than the damn “teachers’” unions are.

IMO, more apropos is Gen 19 when God destroyed the sodomites. Or Lev 20 where homosexuality was a capital crime demanding immediate execution. Or Romans 1 saying it's "worthy of death."

Note: Paul was a subject of the Romans and did not have the prerogative to execute anybody. But they still deserved it.

The “Nuclear Option” against LGBTQMLB is to attack the anti-trust exemption.

From the article: After an MLB spokesman confirmed the players had received a uniform warning, the league later clarified that the warning was “not disciplinary” and “had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the message.”

Too late. League management threatened players for exercising the same rights as other players: advocating their "belief system" on their uniforms.

Attempting to walk it back later isn't going to help them.

“All SF fans need to make sure they have a SF hat with a normal logo on it and a Bible verse written on it in Silver Sharpie to wear to the games.”

The fans are not under contract to not put anything on hats or shoes and play. The players are. And players have been admonished before for things like writing happy mothers day or birthday on their caps. So it isn’t just limited to Biblical verses.

I don’t think MLB’s anti-trust exemption matters anymore. Other major professional sports leagues operate pretty much the same way as MLB, and without any such exemption written into the law.

The Texas Rangers are the only MLB team that does not have a "Pride Night".

That sounds great but their away games are played against teams who do have "Pride Night", so while they're not the headliner, they're the supporting act.

Sports contracts for these players are long and complex—book length.

The devil is in the details—exact wording of each contract.

If they agreed to promote perversion when the team orders them to do so then they are whores for perversion when they sign the contract.

There are various grounds for declaring a contract illegal.

One that demands compliance with LGBTQ dogma in return for employment may be one.
