A senior administration official on Friday laid out elements of a potential short-term agreement between the U.S. and Iran, which could usher in formal negotiations to end the war between the two countries.
The senior administration official, in a call with reporters Friday afternoon, said the deal: reopens the Strait of Hormuz and lifts the U.S. blockade on it; "leads to the dismantling of the Iranian nuclear program;" "leads to the United States getting the enriched [nuclear] material” and that material being destroyed and removed from the country and has "an inspection regime that makes sure that this is a long-term commitment and that it's long-term enforceable."

"leads to"...hmmm
Please don’t be Hans Blix
Please don’t be him. Actually, did Hans pass away? I’m gonna check that
Hmmph. Google says he’s alive and 97.
I don’t want to watch these guys driving around the Iranian countryside inspecting places that have been cleared out to move to the next door another 4 years.
One thing that should be clear. Iran can not be trusted with a single thing
Bwaeking my balls !
should not have started this war
“Do you have any idea how ___ing busy I am!”
It’s good if it actually comes to pass and is enforced. I would worry that after 2028 nobody will stay on top of the nuclear issue. Iran should be forced to pay $500 million a year to create a US-EU-Asian-Arab nuclear commission that will do all the inspections, have access to satellite data, and whatever else is needed to enforce the nuclear agreement.
Beyond that, it may be too much to ask. The Iranian people, I hope, can rise up and get rid of their corrupt theocracy. That won’t happen until after we withdraw the build up and stop bombing. For true and lasting peace the end-times zealots need to be out of power and Iran needs to stop funding/equipping terrorist proxies with cash and weapons.
Starting the war was well within essential US interests.
Not finishing it is the crime.
Doesn't sound like a deal to me, and how many damn' times have we been down this road only to have Lucy yank the football away?
It's getting old and tiresome and frankly, not making President Trump look very good. He never should've stopped bombing until Iran surrendered on TV.
Unconditional surrender.
The minute he stopped bombing, lost all leverage and then all credibility.
SMDH as a three-time proud President Trump voter as to how we got to where we are today and it's really pissing me off.
Don't care who takes out the flamethrower, I said what I said.
And one more thing: END THE DAMN' WAR Mr. President by bombing the sh*t out of Tehran, level it around the mullah's and IRGC until they're all DEAD.
During WW2 we didn't drop the atomic bomb on Nagasaki and then wait 90 days for Japan to surrender. No sir. When the surrender didn't immediately come, Hiroshima took a second Atomic bomb and then the Emperor surrendered.
The lesson history teaches us is clear: when you have your enemy down, you keep your boot on their neck until they surrender unconditionally.
That's how wars are won, and that's how peace endures.
Still SMDH and I'm done typing...
Wrong. Iran's been attacking us for 47 years killing Americans world-wide. Just because it doesn't affect you personally, don't be a pussy.
The correct response is Trump should've never stopped bombing until unconditional surrender was achieved and even then, let it go a little longer to send a clear message.
He gave up all negotiating leverage by agreeing to a cease fire. 90 days later worth of b.s. and here we are.
Resume bombing, end the mullah's and IRGC.
That's the answer.
Now go play in a corner.
“Also in the deal is a 60-day period for technical negotiations on remaining points, according to the official.”
We won’t have to give them their money as it won’t last that long. And if it does, just as soon as they get their money the attacks on Israel will commense.

Yup.
Not finishing it is the crime.
How would you finish it??
OK moroon,
Why did Trump stop the war ‘zactly one year ago after obliterating Iran’s nuclear progrom ?
moroon
Senior official?
Who? Name names or it’s all just a show.
Iran is going to ignore whatever terms of any “agreement” as it wishes.
Boy..your one very intelligent person aint you?
Nagasaki got bombed first?
Dont worry. Your not alone. Typical for the ignorance on this site.
Iran survives. They win. That is/was their objective.
You’re assuming it was a matter of pure choice, and not driven by depleted stocks of munitions (defensive and offensive) from a hastily enacted, and ill-conceived plan.
Unconditional surrender.
If you’re holding onto that criteria then go ahead and chalk this one up a loss.
The minute he stopped bombing, lost all leverage and then all credibility.
True to a degree, just not for the reasons you assume. There are limits to American military power. Kinetic and political. Trump is showing that to the world.
Who started the War? Are you for real, or have memory issues. Iran declared war on the USA 47, now 48 years ago— and the chickenshite weenies (Reagan tried- Iran Contra was a planned olde style OSS op which targeted Iran’s thug oil money, and financed the Contras against Daniel Ortega’s cocaine dealing Communists. It didn’t work, thanks to... Democrats, whiners and the paid elements within the US working for then Khomeini’s mullahcracy).
So, NO the US did NOT start this war. DJT if finally ending it as well as destroying all proxy client terrorists within and outside the Middle East. The House of Saud under bin Salman particularly likes getting rid of the Shiite a@@holes who have been enemies in both oil and religion for the 5 decades and before..the Shias who are a minority is greater Islam, fwiw.
Finishing the war, Mariner and freeing up Hormuz permanently from these crazed “Dane Geld” toll taker wannabee IRGC thugs IS what is “well within essential US interests”.
It is easy to fall in with the media screed biased narrative who still works for any opposition to success, and for their Socialist pals in Euroweenie land.
What has been incredibly tiresome is the posting of absolutely FAKE Pakistani “mediator” leaking lies which serves Pakistan and Iran their buddies who always used to pay. The US should tell the Pakis to knock this crap off or maybe our mission might creep over them... to solidify the real end of IRGC. Pakis have not been our friends since the murder of Benazir Bhutto changed the alliance permanently— and they got nukes thanks to a traitor scientist.
Not picking nits— usually your posts are informed and correct.
So. Nothing concrete or even in motion yet. Gee, this UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER is so super cool. I'm blown away.
