Nancy Mace loses GOP primary for South Carolina governor

Republican firebrand Rep. Nancy Mace lost her GOP primary for South Carolina governor, potentially ending her rollercoaster political career.

Mace failed to advance to a runoff Tuesday. She was considered a top contender in the race until a series of scandals cut into her in-state support and she bucked President Donald Trump to help release the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Trump’s preferred candidate, South Carolina Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette, and Attorney General Alan Wilson advanced to a runoff June 23.

It’s the latest victory for Trump on the heels of his success ousting Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), Mace’s ally on the Epstein files, and Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), among other GOP defectors.

Sad. Why did so many Republicans with safe House seats pick these midterm elections to bail out on the House and leave seats in jeopardy? I still blame Trump for picking Sessions…….
I liked Mace in there. In Arizona, we have two clueless House reps fighting each other to get a chance to beat Katie Hobbs for governor. These are important midterms, but Andy Biggs and David Schweichert—- just about the only GOP we have in Congress now, after having dominated the House and Senate in Arizona before Trump. Now GOP might end up with no Republicans in Congress for Arizona.
I hope Mace’s House seat goes to a Republican.

Grok:

Very safe for the GOP. South Carolina's 1st Congressional District (SC-1) is rated Solid Republican (or Safe Republican) by major forecasters like the Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, Sabato’s Crystal Ball, and Ballotpedia.

Not correct. I live in SC-1. Mace defeated incumbent Democrat Cunningham in 2020 due to Trump’s coattails. Mace won her subsequent terms also due to Trump’s coattails. Take Trump out of the equation and SC-1 is a tossup. Mace’s major failure is her lack of gratitude to Trump. On a personal level Mace is Alex in Fatal Attraction. She’s a bunny boiler.

Daniel Island is purple according to Nancy which is why she sometimes broke with Rs when voting. This seat could go to a Democrat.

Well, she WAS fun to watch.

Sometimes I was awed by her boldness, then cringed when she would occasionally slip into weird-mode.

Thanks for the local report and knowledge.

It would be a bad year if SC-1 fell

Who is running for it? These are crucial races now every single one in a tight election

Notice the implicit bias of Politico. Only Republicans are referred to as “firebrands” never Democrats. Only Republicans are called “staunch,” or “loyalists,” or “stalwarts.” It’s only Republicans who “rant,” or “boast.” Not to mention “hardline,” and “stringent.” Trump’s efforts to enforce immigration laws are referred to as a “crackdown.” And it goes on.

That topless photo stunt was politically costly. Showed poor judgement and instability.

Imagine a world where if you seek justice for the victims of powerful pedophiles
it means the end to your political career. Deliver us from evil.

Wait, what? Are you trying to say that the media is biased against Republicans?
