The PSNI has called for calm across Northern Ireland as disorder broke out on Tuesday night after a man was charged with attempted murder following a serious incident in north Belfast.
Protesters have gathered in various locations causing signficiant disruption. Homes have been set alight as several fire appliances attend a blaze close to the Crumlin Road, while police have said another property has been set alight in the Bute Park area of Dundonald.
A Glider bus was set alight on the Newtownards Road which is understood to have been hijacked beforehand. In Portadown, a police car has been set alight while petrol bombs have been thrown at officers in Cloughfern.
The original incident involving a knife happened in the Kinnaird Avenue area shortly after 10.30pm and has been declared a “critical incident”.
Video posted to social media appears to show a man stabbing another man several times in the head with a knife. One man can be heard saying in the video: ‘He’s trying to cut his head off.’
The injured man, aged in his 40s, is in hospital where his condition is described as serious. The attack has left the man with significant injuries to his eyes, face, neck and back.
A major police investigation is continuing. Follow our live blog for updates.

Enoch Powell was right.
They always are.
Who was it? A Muslim acting out a Jihad?
should attempted beheading come with the same punishment as an actual beheading... i think so.. why reward incompetence.
So exactly who are setting these fires?
Angry Irishmen?
Angry Muslims?
Angry Canadians on vacation?
Good reporting job, Belfast Telegraph.
Not.
seems like it is mostly happening in loyalist / unionist areas
So, Muslims in the neighborhood are rioting and setting vehicle fires now??
Clear them all out and send them back to their Middle Eastern hell holes.
I know, that won’t happen, but it’s a nice thought.
In the era of climate change, beavers have also become recognised as ecological engineers, with a track record of helping to reduce floods, restore wetlands, and promote biodiversity in and around rivers.
So it’s hardly a surprise to find that a coalition of environmentalists is working quietly to introduce the beaver to Ireland.

They are reporting for a local audience so most people would recognize the areas named.
“Bute Park area of Dundonald....A Glider bus was set alight on the Newtownards Road”
These would be protestant loyalist areas.
“So, Muslims in the neighborhood are rioting and setting vehicle fires now??”
No, it is local loyalists (Protestants) who are doing it.

No, it is local loyalists (Protestants) who are doing it.
Expect the Protestant Loyalists to adopt IRA tactics.

Well, with “Abdullah Sabri” ostensibly “helping” with the reportage, it’s not as if you’re getting the story without any spin.
A man who intervened at personal risk is a native Irishman, and he was aided by another.
Aaaaannnnddd... it’s Islam
Yes, you were right; it’s THEM, again.
> These would be protestant loyalist areas. <
Thanks. But do these loyalists know that it’s the formerly Great Britain who brought those savages in?
(Not that the Republic of Ireland is any better.)
Pity none of those bystanders was allowed to carry.
God bless them for going to the victim’s aid.
