With Los Angeles voters preparing to head to the polls, Spencer Pratt has found himself at the center of one of the city’s most surprising political stories.
The former reality television star has gained momentum in a tightly contested mayoral race, picked up support from influential public figures, and secured a donation from a major Silicon Valley name.
Yet with the election approaching, questions remain about whether his unconventional campaign can go the distance.
Spencer Pratt Receives Backing From Sergey Brin
The closing days of the Los Angeles mayoral primary brought a notable development for Spencer Pratt when it emerged that Google co-founder Sergey Brin had contributed to his campaign.
According to the Daily Mail, Brin donated $1,800, the maximum amount an individual is permitted to give to a Los Angeles mayoral candidate. News of the contribution quickly circulated online, drawing attention because of Brin’s growing involvement in California politics.
The billionaire entrepreneur has invested heavily in political causes during the current election cycle, reportedly spending tens of millions of dollars on state-level issues.
Much of that effort has focused on opposing a proposed tax targeting billionaire wealth through his nonprofit organization, Building a Better California.
When one social media user presented Brin’s donation as evidence of the billionaire’s political shift, Pratt responded bluntly. The user described the contribution as proof of “Brin’s rightward lurch,” prompting Pratt to fire back, “It’s called common sense.”
The exchange generated additional attention for Pratt’s campaign at a crucial moment, helping keep him in the headlines just before voting began.
Spencer Pratt Takes Aim At Rival Nithya Raman
While celebrating support from a powerful donor, Pratt continued using the confrontational style that has become a major part of his campaign strategy.
Over the weekend, he targeted City Councilmember Nithya Raman on social media after she posted a video encouraging residents to vote. The clip featured Raman smiling and dancing to Natasha Bedingfield’s hit song “Unwritten.”
Pratt seized the opportunity to mock the video and compare it unfavorably to his reality television past.
“The only thing worse than The Hills is Nithia’s campaign,” Pratt wrote.
The comment quickly spread online and became another example of how the candidate has mixed political messaging with the sharp-tongued personality that first made him famous on television.
His social media activity has often generated strong reactions, but supporters argue that his willingness to speak directly helps him stand out in a crowded field. Critics, meanwhile, view the approach as unnecessarily combative.
Regardless of opinion, the strategy has helped keep his campaign visible during the race’s final stretch.
Brin is not the only high-profile figure who has publicly expressed support for Pratt’s candidacy.
Podcast giant Joe Rogan has emerged as one of the campaign’s most prominent backers. During an episode of his show, Rogan openly rooted for Pratt despite no longer living in Los Angeles.
“I can’t vote for you, but I’m rooting for you,” Rogan said.
He went even further by adding, “If I lived in Los Angeles, no question whatsoever, I would vote for you.”
Those comments gave Pratt valuable exposure among Rogan’s massive audience and reinforced the perception that his campaign has gained traction beyond traditional political circles.
Meanwhile, socialite and entrepreneur Paris Hilton also publicly signaled her support. After watching a campaign video showing Pratt living in a trailer following the destruction of his home in the Palisades Fire, Hilton commented, “Spencer for Mayor” alongside a raised-hands emoji.
The endorsements have helped Pratt maintain momentum as he attempts to transform celebrity recognition into political success.
Poll Numbers Suggest A Nail-Biting Finish
Recent polling suggests the race remains extremely close.
According to a California Post survey, Pratt narrowly leads the field with 30.1% support. Incumbent Mayor Karen Bass follows closely at 29.5%, while Raman sits in third place with 23.4%.
The numbers indicate that no candidate is likely to secure an outright majority in the primary election. If that happens, the top two finishers will advance to a runoff, setting up another high-stakes contest later this year.
Still, the poll comes with a margin of error large enough to make predictions difficult. A slim lead today could disappear quickly once ballots are counted.
That uncertainty has created a sense of suspense around the election and fueled speculation about who will ultimately emerge as the top contenders.
Even if Pratt successfully advances to a runoff, his path forward remains complicated.
Political observers note that supporters of Bass and Raman could unite behind whichever candidate remains in the race against him.
Such a scenario could create a difficult obstacle for an independent candidate seeking to build a broad coalition across Los Angeles.
The city’s political landscape presents another challenge. Los Angeles has long leaned heavily Democratic, while Pratt has been registered as a Republican since 2020.
Even so, his campaign has already defied many expectations. Few would have predicted that a reality television personality best known for “The Hills” would find himself leading polls, attracting celebrity endorsements, and receiving support from one of the world’s most recognizable tech billionaires.
Whether that momentum carries him beyond the primary remains the biggest question hanging over election night.

I would enjoy seeing LA disintegrate into nothingness, but I have to concede that if it could completely conquer all of its liberalness, it would again be an okay place to visit.
California is the root of a lot of evil.
Foe decades my Bride has advocated for the Common Sense Party. Many of us common sense believers can disagree we each other on a whole host of issues, but we can come together when it comes to common sense solutions to what is really simple problems created by people who think they are complex and nuanced.
Anyone who was affected by the Palisades fire should vote for Pratt!
“California is the root of a lot of evil.”
I think that’s where America’s shift to communism got started back in the 60’s. It could have been NYC, but I think the Kalifornicans got the jump on NYC and stole the show.
“I think that’s where America’s shift to communism got started back in the 60’s.”
No, NYC and Chicago.
Why do they always refer to Pratt as a former reality TV star but they never refer to Bass’s past ties to Fidel Castro?
I think he blows her out of the water. Bass more flumoxed then porky pig running an auction. This animal angle Pratt doing is very savy
